Ydy I found several more Lulworth Skipper larvae on Brachypodium sylvaticum instead of usual B pinnatum. This may be first recorded use in UK? They use it abroad and it may allow the species to spread inland if climate warming continues. @dorsetbutterflies.bsky.social @richardfoxbc.bsky.social

🌱 What a fantastic seminar from @michaelraissig.bsky.social for our @rdplab.bsky.social external seminar.

Full of energy, with some seriously cool cell biology 🔬💚

Natural Variation in Brachypodium distachyon Primarily Links Lignin Reinforcement to Rhizoctonia solani Resistance
Natural variation in Brachypodium distachyon reveals that maintaining or reinforcing lignin-containing secondary cell walls is a major, but not universal, leaf resistance strategy against Rhizoctonia....

More Field Fleawort Tephroseris integrifolia at Martin Down NNR, Hampshire-Wiltshire today. Spraying has drastically reduced Brachypodium sylvaticum and created bare soils for this, and other species, to germinate. @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Field Fleawort Tephroseris integrifolia. Delighted to come across decent numbers of this scarce plant today at Martin Down NNR, Hampshire-Wiltshire. Interestingly, these were in an area sprayed to control Tor-grass Brachypodium sylvaticum. @bsbibotany.bsky.social #wildflowerhour
