My US institution now requires us to submit a restricted party screening form for ANY activities, financial or otherwise, with ANY foreign individuals or entities from ANY country.

Includes ILL, foreign offices of US companies, and members of project/review teams.
Doesn't include chance encounters at conferences (but CHLA itself, yes if attending).

All are checked against a batch of watch lists; mainly but not exclusively US federal.

#canmedlibs sigh... at least it isn't confusing with Academic Integrity and Antagonists and Inhibitors
Super. Neat, even 🙄

Will the MeSH headings change too? Oh and the NIH web nav is changing. Great .

Yes that’s me exclaiming to no one “you have got to be kidding me!” as I work on some grading. I sometimes talk to myself in these situations. #medlibs

#medlibs #canmedlibs #ukmedlibs #ebookSOS Anyone know a current resource for the Academic Book Investigation? It looks like the website is defunct. Looking for a good source to cite on why I can't buy ebooks from certain publishers.

I have a colleague who is transitioning to ONLY teaching AI tools (e.g. Consensus) for literature searching rather than PubMed or other traditional bibliographic databases. I'm conflicted and still currently teach both. Please discuss! #medlibs #canmedlibs

#medlibs / #canmedlibs / #academiclibrarians, behold a google scholar update email (I receive these because I do not let it automatically update my profile) in which a female author is incorrectly identified for removal, in favour of adding degree credentials to the remaining authors. PMID 33380353

#medlibs and #canmedlibs - a compelling and alarming poster from CHLA this summer on potential increasing inaccuracy with the standard sensitive "human" RCT hedge/filter in algorithmically indexed MEDLINE articles. Thanks @pingue7.bsky.social for noting its access in OSF! osf.io/d4mz5/

#medlibs and #canmedlibs. This is devastating.
Hey CanMedLibs and MedLibs - CADTH just laid off half their librarians and technicians. We're going from groundbreaking work in evidence synthesis to.... whatever the drug companies tell us.

Evidence synthesis folks:
In the PRISMA flow diagram, do records removed by Covidence's automatic deduplication go in "Duplicate records removed" or "Records marked as ineligible by automation tools"?

I have used many of the tips on this blog. Today, I used the instructions (and tool mentioned) in this post (uxcaucustips.blogspot.com/2025/04/tip-...) to generate two sets of records from a draft Ovid Medline search, so the research team can do some sampling. #MLAUXCaucus #MedLibs #CanMedLibs
