Writing a literature review is thinking. It is reading, choosing, summarizing, cross pollinating ideas and building the foundations for your own research. Every part of that process is necessary to do on your own--offloading any of that onto LLMs is a sign of a crappy academic.

I don't get how people don't realize that a technology that replaces junior and entry level positions in a field destroys that field.
There's no skipping steps. You have to be a junior before you can be a senior, and if you don't have senior people, you don't have a field.

Not even inadequate safety guardrails - generative AI inherently behaves in non-deterministic patterns. The seeming randomness of locating security vulnerabilities without (or in spite of) direction is always going to be present in this tech. It's what makes it both potentially useful and dangerous.
It didn't "go rogue." OpenAI used a product with inadequate safety guardrails, in an environment where they know regulators won't impose penalties, and then bad things happened.
