#capitalist-driven
This is a wild forecast cone, and certainly brought to us in part by capitalist-driven climate change.
Update: The remnants of Hurricane Rachel, likely as a post-tropical (perhaps still tropical) storm, now appears likely to bring significant impacts to northern Baja CA, far S. California, AZ, and UT--mainly Sunday into Monday. [Brief thread]

Abso-fucking-lately!

The sinister bit is how people think it's the future and they're divorced from any human soul and art driven entirely by productivity. If you want to do a serious anti-AI commentary you need to know what makes it sinister and you need to be anti capitalist or you're just gassing up a shit product.

Marc Andreessen (Venture Capitalist):

Suggests that the current political system is obsolete and should be replaced by tech-driven governance.

I'd argue that Trump isn't the problem, nor the Republicans.

It's the media. Sensationalist, Capitalist, Profit-driven and now completely corrupted and useless, rendering the country incapable of accurately informed, intelligent critical thinking.

One is a larger-than-life character driven to do horrific things by inhumane capitalist forces, the other is played by Tom Cruise.

No words that lie softer/harder to the fine tuned ears of our capitalist overlords than “pragmatic, consensus-driven style of leadership”.

The consensus never benefits the oppressed, oddly enough. The pragmatism comes from crumbs discarded from the table, with the threat even these are negotiable.

The sixth and least amenable reason: the capitalist economy, driven by supply and demand, cannot really be outwitted: as long as Trump does not force US oil companies to sell petroleum products below the world market price, they will not do so. But that would be SoCiAliSm!

The capitalist healthcare system is not and has never been sufficient, but the accumulating crises of AI-driven profit-seeking on the one hand and frequent mass disabling events on the other will make this issue, and other issues related to health, increasingly relevant as this century continues.

The capitalist lifeblood they call 'growth' has driven us as a species to the edge of the ecological abyss, may the gods save us all from those joint curses 'growth' and 'hope'!

While capitalism is crumbling, there continue to be a lot of casualties along the way. It's never been a system to serve humanity or the very planet we live on. It is a system driven by insane greed and it will be our undoing

Always appreciate your debunking Max! As an avid reader of the G&M on the weekend I'm always waiting for someone to add a bit of liberalism to the commentary of a Capitalist driven newspaper.🍁

As someone who loves technology, I’ve often said I feel betrayed by it.

But on reflection, it’s not the computers and technology that have betrayed us. It’s the capitalist ideology that has driven so much of the platforms we live with today.

Trade labor facing an extreme shortage.

Maybe mass deportation was a shit strategy.

Maybe the capitalist class will be forced to invest in trades education and job placement.

Nah, short term market gains don't care about things like this. This will be the end of the US empire. Oopsie poopsie.

I have been driven to madness by the unified political consensus that "workers should train themselves. Capital should not have to train its labor"

This really dominated post 2008 when jobs didn't exist but the political economy blamed out of work workers.

Its a capitalist brain worm!

For the last 50+ years, the government (local and federal) has been driven towards service the parasitic rich instead of society. A mix of capitalist markets with socialist policies can bring the greatest benefit to any society.

The 60s and 70s had major growth, social programs, and prosperity.

Climate change is driven by extractive capitalism. Capitalist states and private corporations would not be able to consume the literal earth without settler colonial, imperial governance, and the military force required to seize land, secure global supply chains, and suppress ecological resistance.

Indeed,
In my opinion, Due to a years-long shift to the right driven by many Republicans (mostly conservatives), America has allowed itself to be misled by a corrupt capitalist class that has turned increasingly away from humanity.

And now we’re in the middle of this Trump dictatorship.
Sickening.

Imho, allowing this technology to be left up to publicly exposed companies driven solely by a capitalist economic system while expecting it to self-regulate is akin to if we had decided to entrust nuclear weapon development to Ford Motor Co. or Sears Roebuck.

Despite the persistent meme of Batman as an out-of-touch capitalist with a trauma-driven fascism streak, he's always depicted as partnering directly with these kinds of characters if they are genuine, even when those people are public enemies of either Bruce or Batman.
I want him "attacking" the criminal problem by setting up trade programs aimed at would-be henchmen and partnering with Penguin to get afterschool identity affinity programs going for poorer schools. Just genuinely fucking up Batman's flow by solving criminality compassionately.

In regards to the American Revolution, that was not a working class revolution.

The American Revolution was a Capitalist, expansionist, colonial project started and driven by rich men who gave it enough humanitarian window dressing to not immediately collapse.
