In Return of the Jedi it should've been Chewie that killed Boba Fett on the barge. When Luke is wrapped up in cable Chewie should've snapped Boba's neck (twist the helmet around) as revenge for Hahn & poetically pay-off that Vader stopped Fett shooting Chewie in Empire. Better than a goofy accident.

Now that I think about it Chewie also fought for the republic against the separatists in the prequels. You know, a totally apolitical thing to do. Then said republic became the empire turned on him and enslaved him and his people. I'm thinking Chewie might not have been apolitical after all.

I'd forgotten that! Yeah, you're totally right. Chewie was being kept captive in a pit, and they threw Han down to be killed by Chewie, but instead Chewie and Han teamed up and escaped. And later in the movie Chewie frees some other slave Wookies.

I only saw Solo once so I might be completely wrong but wasn't Chewie canonically an imperial slave in Solo? Like, that's how the two met? Chewie is kind of a giant asshole if he's apolitical about the organisation that enslaved not only him but his entire people.

I know nyx has tinnitus from the military, but the level of deep sleeper this man is still baffles me.

Chewie might be the first movie sidekick who's a full-on alien. Not a robot, not a guy with foam ears glued on. An eight-foot walking carpet, and everyone in the movie just treats him like a regular guy. Nowadays with CG non-human side kicks are a dime a dozen, but Chewie was a trailblazer.
