I have now heard that a NASA representative described the "cuts" as a "rephase" of funding and not "cuts." That the full budgets would eventually be delivered. I remain concerned. But the CLPS instrument teams aren't throwing (public) fits (yet), so I'll act as though cuts did not take place.

Yeah. The polls aren’t shifting that much. Mid-40s for the collection of massive wankers. Mid-50s for ‘everyone else’. But Labour leadership (NOT members/voters/CLPs) would sooner lose and blame Libs/Greens than resign itself to leading a coalition more often than not.

We also heard from a questioner yesterday that many "CLPS projects" were informed on Monday of 20-70% budget cuts in FY27. I haven't seen any other public report on this, and everything I know is in the question. If this is true, why were those project budgets cut? Was it to pay for PROMISE?

Conference. CLP delegations capped at six since 2022. Rule changes must go in a year ahead. Around 800 CLP delegates are registered but roughly 100 CLPs have no delegate, so no vote on the NPF or NCC. Policy only gets debated if a slate prioritises it. Neither slate is pushing PR

There is no longer any mechanism to make Labour Leadership better.

there was a lot of coverage - often unfair, sometimes not - about how hostile CLPs were. think people who got their wish and essentially dismantled them would regret it if they were capable of self reflection

I’d like to see this argument played out properly. I’m still not sure they are *that* decisive.
But I do think “concentrate on knocking on doors” is very good therapy for local CLPs. It helps them understand what their job is.

Many people don't understand this. I've found myself explaining 'democracy' and 'constituency parties' to people.
I prefer it to Labour overriding CLPs and handing choices over to Peter Mandelson in the '24 election.
