Our boy is 8 now, loves drawing fish & birds though his AuDHD means he’s easily distracted and seldom finishes stuff, meaning reams of paper covered in unfinished bird compendia/ocean habitats. Which is lush, BUT I thought a drawing app might help him focus a bit.

Relatedly the current comics publishing trend I absolutely love is gigantic doorstop-sized paperback compendia of my favorite old comics. I like my hardcover archival slipcased editions too but I always feel like I should be wearing a barrister’s wig to read them

This is a funny thing folks run into. But, you generally won’t run into it unless you’re in the archives!
British History Online, for example, is a great database for published compendia, but state papers/patent roll calendars, Rymer's Foedera, and the Statutes of the Realm, only get you so far.

I haven't spent much time reading old texts with original spellings since I was an undergrad (and for one paper for a single class in law school), but even with that tiny sample I encountered stuff like "ain't" and "aks a question," sometimes in letters from royalty.
