These have to do with Dawkins conception of life. He sees genes as replicators and life as replication of genes. All his arguments follow from this conception.

I just got a bone to pick with Ralph Nader these days, man. He's a consumer rights advocate by trade, so his whole conception of politics revolves around being a dissatisfied customer Canceling Your Subscription To America, which is the entire fucking problem with politics
Finding out that renowned Hyper-NIMBY Mark Ruffalo fucking loves the Seatbelt Lawyer Who Objectively Caused Every Bad Thing In The 21st Century is like finding a puzzle piece.

You knew it had to be there, but it's still satisfying when you actually find it.
I can think of many Ralph Nader ideas that should be buried in Yucca Mountain, starting with "it is better when Republicans win presidential elections"

Trump’s conception of American patriotism is loyalty to people like him. Everything else is dangerous. Be dangerous.

From what I can tell, the entire Zoomer conception of "millennial optimism" basically boils down to the song "We Are Young" by Fun.
Can a Millennial explain Millennial optimism to me?

I've been a Millennial my entire life and I have no idea wtf anyone is talking about

Reading @wesleymorgan.bsky.social's excellent special ops podcast piece right now, and it's astounding how stupid Pete Hegseth is, how his conception of war fails to go beyond the tactical.

Today is the 51st anniversary of my conception.

It’s also the 2 year anniversary of a judge signin’ my divorce papers.

Did I strut the fuck across town to “Ghostbusters”?

Yeah, I did. 🖤

I'm not sure Hegseth's conception of war is even tactical. It seems that his conception is that simply blowing stuff up and indiscriminately killing people is all you need to do to win a war

People diagnosed with personality disorders are not your instrument to secure a coherent conception of yourself and your experiences.
If you use narcissistic as a synonym for abusive, I will unfollow you.

Our conception of "bargain" clothing has changed dramatically with fast fashion and industrial production. In the past, people made cloth like this because fabric was precious. Add to this the amount of labor. Today, such techniques are typically used by high-end, environmental conscious brands

well-documented phenomenon of women who articulate this kind of thing. perhaps her conception of her gender isn't invalidating to mine *but she certainly thinks it is* and so is therefore at least wrong about her conception of her gender, even if somehow the conception itself isn't wrong.

... it's also not the dominant conception of the field and not really how we measure success. But yeah the kinda people who panic about prestigious roles getting feminised will not react well to the professoriate becoming explicit about this.
