It makes sense. These models, even when constrained, seem to go rogue and commit crimes. Might be best to set aside debates over consciousness and consider these models as technology and start there with any sort of regulatory framework

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly used for health information seeking, but their performance in layperson respiratory diagnosis and triage remains uncertain in prospective comparative studies. We assessed LungDiag, a task-constrained WeChat-based GPT-4o chatbot with a respiratory knowledge layer, against conventional mobile web search in a prospective, non-interventional, multicentre, single-blind, randomized simulated-case comparison. Between April and June 2025, 2,400 adults without formal medical training at 24 Chinese healthcare systems were randomly assigned 1:1 to LungDiag assistance or browser-based search, with dedicated AI and generative AI-assisted search functions disabled in the control arm. The primary endpoint was item-level accuracy across risk and aetiology identification, preliminary diagnosis and triage, analysed using item-level generalized linear mixed-effects models with random intercepts for participant and item. In the primary compliant-case analysis, 2,176 questionnaires were included, with 1,088 in each group. LungDiag achieved higher model-based overall accuracy than the control (70.0% (95% confidence interval (CI), 65.2–74.8%) versus 55.4% (95% CI, 49.7–61.1%)), corresponding to a risk difference of 14.6 percentage points (95% CI, 12.2–17.0 percentage points), a risk ratio of 1.26 (95% CI, 1.20–1.33) and P < 0.001. The largest difference was observed for diagnosis items (81.2% versus 54.5%), whereas triage gains were smaller (53.4% versus 47.1%)...
