Cross-modal sensory compensation increases mosquito attraction to humans
Mosquitoes enhance sensitivity to human body heat by a sensory compensation mechanism when their sense of smell is disrupted.

"I had full-body sensory flashbacks from a job I signed up for and was paid to do!"

Aw, shit, that sounds terrible. Hey, if you get a second, climb down from the cross and let us have a chat about the psychological effects of transphobic harassment.

The anti-trans playbook is being wheeled out against neurodivergent kids more and more in UK papers

chronically ill, “psych” survivors & those who identify as “crazy”, neurodiverse people, people with cognitive impairments, & people who are of a sensory minority, as we understand that isolation ultimately undermines collective liberation.

My mum got my son a sensory swing to help to chill him out and its the funniest fucking thing ive ever seen in my life

i don't mean kids who have like sensory needs and hate itchy tags, i mean like demanding to wear their spiderman costume to church or whatever. that just wouldn't cross their minds. i could put them in a tuxedo every morning and they'd be like, alright

Still can't get over how cute you draw Tepig. A+

Also, that description of cross-sensory learning is great

didn't know how to fill this one out so i made my own system

green check = i pretty much always like this food
yellow stripe = conditional, sometimes it's inedible
blue circle = i haven't had it
heart = i love you
red cross = i will never like this food
grey cross = sensory issues

We decided it's a porridge-for-dinner day, and now we're filling colourful balloons with mini pompoms for some sensory play.

Please cross your fingers for good sleep tonight for us both 🤞

the past few days i've mostly really been enjoying the sensory experiences of having my windows open to get a nice fresh cross-breeze running through my apartment, but today like 3 people have decided to mow their lawns with big loud stinky gasoline mowers and the sound/smell combo is NOT pleasant

A lot of confusion over what "Autism Spectrum Disorder" means.

It's a tool to help doctors tailor treatment. Some require high level of care and others less, like workbooks and a fidget toy. Since autism is variable, this helps them find the best tools.

Online now: Sensory neuronal mTORC1 kinase signaling establishes neuroimmune memory that initiates allergic immunity
Sensory neuronal mTORC1 kinase signaling establishes neuroimmune memory that initiates allergic immunity
How cumulative environmental allergen exposures are encoded by peripheral sensory neurons to shape immune responsiveness is unclear. Zhu et al. show that protease allergens induce an mTORC1-dependent, metabolically trained state in sensory neurons that amplifies later neuroimmune responses to allergens and enables cross-sensitization to antigenically distinct allergens.
