It is also evidently #ctenophoreTuesday (shouldn't that be ctuesday?) and I love me some comb jellies, even if I could rarely get good pics of 'em. This is from Monterey.

Our brief report on a remarkable feature of #ctenophores out now in PNAS: Reverse development in the ctenophore Mnemiopsis. We show that Mnemiopsis is capable of reversal from mature lobate to early cydippid🤩. @MSarsCentre @UiB #rejuvenation

This is a lovely shot of the bottom comb jelly Coeloplana astericola (8 of them) on this Echinaster star-the flat bobby bits are the jellies- with the white filaments on them? those are feeding tentacles! #CtenophoreTuesday www.inaturalist.org/observations...

For #CtenophoreDay an experience so extraordinary & exquisite if I hadn't captured it on camera I'd have thought it was a dream. Last month, heading into the sunset at end of #MySwim at Shimoda, found myself in a vast raft of ?Mikado Comb Jellies (Bolinopsis mikado) #cilia #CtenoTakeover #Japan🧵1/6

Hey 🧪 I am so sorry I am late to Ctenophore Day! How are we celebrating? Is there a #CtenoTakeover in progress? a beautiful Callianira from Antarctica

I saw four species of ctenophore last night. Tried to hold out for a feather boa cydippid or Beroe but my neck was not taking it any longer. Maybe today.

Dryodora glandiformis
Bolinopsis microptera
Euplokamis dunlapae
Pleurobrachia bachei

Just a few of the ctenophores from the past two nights:

1 - Feather Boa Cydippid (my common name for this species, description in progress by CE Mills)

2 - Dryodora glandiformis

3 - Euplokamis dunlapae

4 - not sure… super tiny. Thoughts welcome.
