Community Rhythm: Worship & Prayer

We value times of worship together. After a night in silence, we start the day by responding to the invitation “O Lord open our lips” with “and we shall praise your name.”

How do you build a framework of awareness of God into your day?

Back from a weekend at Cuddesdon. Lots of new people, new information and new challenges that lie ahead. But also wonderful, supportive staff / students, full breadth of tradition and each person welcomed and valued for exactly who God made them to be.

Now is it nearly bedtime? (Just a tad tired!)

Sorry, can't work out how to add alt text after the event.

Picture shows a signpost standing in a grassy post. Sign itself has name and contact details for Ripon College, Cuddesdon.

A celebration of Holy Communion has been held at Chelmsford Cathedral to mark the beginning of the new Cuddesdon Chelmsford Centre. The Centre enables us to continue our commitment to training ordinands and lay leaders within Essex and East London. Find out more - buff.ly/P4pUXXE

Yeah, I think that’s fair. Though there used to be a belief that going to Westcott or Cuddesdon was a good start at becoming a bishop (not true now, if it ever was)

@suffolkvicar.bsky.social do you have any more of the equal marriage tea towels laying about? I got one from you when you visited Cuddesdon a few years back.

That moment when you are preparing for your online Pilgrim Theology College Wednesday evening lecture and remember that you spoke on the same topic - listening in ministry and mission - to an online class in Cuddesdon, England last year. Which the local organiser called brilliant. #thumbsup

another to The Holy Hill today: someone has left their sunnies in my #taxi. I’m getting so many fares to Cuddesdon recently that I am starting to think the Lord might be trying to nag me about something.

English eel-rents had vanished by 1700. But landlords still wanted their eels!

In 1781 the fishery at Wickham's Weir in Cuddesdon was leased for £9 per year & no eels. But the tenant did have to sell his landlord eels "of a good size" at the below-market price of 7d. per pound.

Yay! Bishop has finally confirmed Stage 2 recommendation (he's a busy chap, tbf) and I start training PT at Cuddesdon in Sept.

Can't say I've loved the process as an autistic (probably AuDHD) person but am incredibly thankful for those who have given wisdom / calmed my angst at various points.

Yes, happy to wave at any young
People you know. I’ve offered to help with a couple of sessions as we’ve offsite so whole weekend not doable.

Next at Cuddesdon in September. I have a better idea of where things are now in relation to Wheatley so perhaps I will manage to catch you at some stage!

Missed you! Glad you're ok. Not going to Greenbelt but the young person I 'mother' is. I'll tell them to look out for you. I think they're leading a scratch choir? When are you at cuddesdon next?

Check out Anderson Jeremiah's: as perfect as a mitre can be in this sinful world. And have a look at Edward King's if you're ever at Cuddesdon. He was the first bishop to wear a mitre and Eucharistic vestments in the Church of England after the the Reformation. On the small side, but what a saint!

Trust me to get talking to a chap whilst waiting for the car wash. He trained at Ripon College Cuddesdon too and has worked all over the world with charities. Fascinating man and a really good conversation.

One of the Ordinands turned up at my taxi with a *huge* fan, as big as a small child. It sat on the lap of one of the other ordinands on the journey. Drove away, thinking to myself they should make that fella a bishop, in around ten years’ time.

Fare to the Holy Hill, for one #Dorchester and two #Oxford ordinands, headed for their pre ordination retreat, ahead of Sunday.
This door knocker is really quite something.

An early start for my Waterways Breeding Bird survey for @btobirds.bsky.social along the River Thame from Cuddesdon. Great to hear 12 singing Reed Warbler, a site record due to habitat improvement by @riverthamect.bsky.social. 2 Hobby were also notable 👌🏻

Making peace

How can we live as peacemakers in a disordered world? There are just six places left on the Community five-day retreat at Cuddesdon in July. Could you come and create community with us?
