Two tiny mushrooms with a Springtail creeping between the two cups. These fellas are around 1-2 mm in size and can be tricky to capture!

Cup fungi on a log next to a lake in Anchorage (Peziza sp according to iNaturalist)

After refreshing myself on #cupfungi, I made a journey back out to these scalloped #Geopyxis vulcanalis to check the smell. When crushed, they smell strongly of sulfur, hence the common name Fairy Farts. They do infact smell like Fairy Farts.

Some tiny little #cupfungi hanging out in the moss today. I suspect these to be a #Geopyxis sp, maybe G. vulcanalis or whatever we are calling them now.

I found these today in Anchorage and haven’t seen them before. They’re not in my new Alaska mushroom guide, but some online digging makes me think they’re violet fairy cups or purple jellydisc. Maybe Ascocoryne cylichnium?

I’m not sure what kind of cup fungi these are that I came across on a neighborhood dog walk, but they’re really cool.

I hadn't had the pleasure of finding these suede beauties before. I found this cluster whilst #coppicing an old overstood Hazel stool.
