I'm going to say it loud for the people in the back. Voice actors are artists and replacing them with Gen AI is unethical and immoral. This is different than a screen reader/accessibility tool which isn't giving a "performance." This is a machine trying to imitate human emotion and artistry.

If you don't want to use Amazon, I just uploaded all my ebooks as EPUB and PDF for sale on my personal Ko-Fi store (which supports me directly).
I'll upload to other markets when the novelettes are done.

It turns out that some restrictions come with the new D2D/Bookshop.org collaboration
Worth noting that this deal has led to the explicit banning of erotica on D2D, so self-publishing smut has gained a new roadblock.

Unfortunately they are blocking all erotica from distribution. Very sad to see a champion for indie bookstores take such a restrictive stance on fiction.

Heard back from @draft2digital.bsky.social support, and they had no idea of the issue with D2D authors' books not being able to be purchased on Kobo.
If you're a D2D author, try to quick buy your book on Kobo. If the cart says empty, you're affected too.
Contact D2D support and let them know.

The majority of my D2D royalties are from Overdrive! It really makes a difference.
If you want to support your favourite author, but don't have the money to buy their books, most libraries have a Recommend a Purchase" link somewhere on their website. Or a "Notify me if the library purchases this title" option in their catalogue, which tells staff that there is interest.

D2D takes 10% fees for each transaction. So an author who makes $90 a year on D2D will pay $12 + $9 fees a year to use D2D. An author who makes $110 will pay just $11 in fees.

D2D is at the moment the best of the distribution aggregators, but having to yell at them (like we have to yell at Patreon) when they commit Various Bullshit is exhausting. Ugh.

Ingramspark/d2d printing costs have risen so much that it'll not be feasible to sell a PE paperback with them unless we set the price REALLY high. For ex, I can sell it for $17 through Amazon and make... okay royalties; through d2d/ingram I'd have to set the price to $22 and get *half* the royalty.
