After the Germans set up effective radar jamming devices, RV Jones directed operators to continue as if nothing had changed. Discouraged, the Germans switched off their devices. They only learnt after the war that they had in fact been working. #dday75 #ElectronicWarfare

Visited the Normandy Beaches for the first time in August. The importance of this day 75 years ago, where British, Canadian, Free French, and Americans landed in France to begin ridding the world of Nazis, as a Jew is not lost on me. Thank you all who served that day. #DDay75

Finally settled on what to remark on for #DDay75: following the National Guardsmen of Bedford, VA in Co. A, 116 IN, who were nearly all killed or wounded in the first wave on Omaha. So many young men from Bedford died on D-Day that the @DDayMemorial was located there

75 years ago today, a first cousin of my mother's was killed in Normandy. He was 20. The letters to his family after his death talk about liking him in a way that goes beyond polite formulas. He was good with cattle, and wanted to farm after the war. #dday75 /1
