#deckbuilderTTRPG
Alright, the original CYOA I wrote as an example is done, I think I'll set a goal for 2 more, then I'll go about reformatting the doc for a playtest release, this time with chargen and multiple adventure options. #deckbuilderTTRPG
Tempted to triple-lock-in and include guides not for GMs, but for people who want to write their own modules (balance, how to design cards/challenges/monsters, etc), so #deckbuilderTTRPG can just be a game where you design your character, print your deck, and just play with friends vs an encounter.
took a screenshot of the current CYOA-styled text, forgot to post it, lol #deckbuilderTTRPG My current notation is that #N is a story/choice page, and #C is a combat page. The combat encounters are self-playing decks that you print out ahead of time, so no need for a GM to run one of these.

Heartbreaking: Aspiring TTRPG designer playtested his game for the first time and it was actually really fun #deckbuilderTTRPG

At this rate, I'm gonna end up releasing #deckbuilderTTRPG as literally 'Unnamed Deckbuilder TTRPG' cuz I can not name shit.

Fuck, my brain realized i could update the itch page for Arcana, the #deckbuilderTTRPG as 2.0 "Now with more class and color!" And now i gotta do it soon

Prolly a little late in the evening for some folks, but fuck it, self-aggrandizing engagement bait #deckbuilderTTRPG #TTRPG

Bonus, I'll probably post a bit about the design of the class/how it fits.

Well, only one more thing to do before I refresh my pinned, though tempted to go ahead anyway. Got a week of vacay, may do the #deckbuilderTTRPG update on itch first

Friend of mine reviewed my #deckbuilderTTRPG and said "Needs more dice and THACO" and I chucked a snowball at his head.

For #SelfPromoSaturday, my #deckbuilderTTRPG is available as a quickstart playtest on itch. Sorry about the lack of proper layouts / any art, but I'd love to see how much interest it gets. Play characters made entirely of a deck, fighting against self-playing monster decks, with CYOA adventures.

Also wife made me promise to finish one of my TTRPGs this upcoming year, and it'll either be #deckbuilderTTRPG or #CatgirlsInPowerArmor, and might be both if I get a headwind going.
"AI will help creators create more!" Fuck you, I had a walk in the cold and thought up a six card class, and typed it out in 30 minutes. I can't imagine what sort of mashed up mess of a game an LLM would make if I put in 'deckbuilder ttrpg please'
December 15, 2025 at 6:42 AM
Alright, rent lowering gunshots time, gonna talk about my #deckbuilderTTRPG. There's currently a quickstart on my itch which has some premade characters, monster decks to play against, and a CYOA, all playable without a GM. Print your own cards, play the game a bit, lemme know how it reads. 🧵 #TTRPG

Alright here we go!

First public playtest version of my #deckbuilderTTRPG is now live on itch! It includes multiple premade characters, multiple monster decks, and one premade adventure, all of which can be played without a GM!

Fuckit, bored at work on a Friday, I did this before but instead of one card this time, it'll be a whole class / monster deck. Lets me talk more overall design ideas and I can use it as an excuse to do some balancing. #TTRPG #deckbuilderTTRPG

Oh right....testing combat. Right. Fuck me. Least stat spreads for enemies will be chill. Might just go ahead and do up a full 'quickstart test' like I did with #deckbuilderTTRPG with some sample enemies.
Took me a bit to get back into the old writing spirit of the game, but we're back to the solid flavor, and now all four branches of #CatgirlsInPowerArmor are 'done' (Signature Traits, Distinguishing Features, 5 Combat Traits, 3 Non-combat traits). Obviously will add more as I get ideas.

#TTRPG wrapped:

I tried running Daisy Chainsaw and ICON 1.5

I finished up my Lancer campaign at the beginning of the year.

I started and finished a CAIN campaign and it became my favorite TTRPG instantly.

Tons of dev work on #CatgirlsInPowerArmor and #deckbuilderTTRPG
Uh yeah... TTRPG wrapped....

I played a shit ton of Pathfinder 2E. There ya go.

Updating the adventure module I already made for #deckbuilderTTRPG to the new skillcheck system, which makes it much simpler to handle in all honesty. Does mean that 'pass a skill check to rest (ie, rebuild your decks)' is a free pass, so 'rests' in adventures might be 'restore X Burned cards'

This, make them zine-style printable. There is no way with tariffs and such will you get indie ttrpgs printed at any decent cost.

Also, I may/may not have a 'print your own cards' #deckbuilderTTRPG in playtest
I foresee that you´ll want to get used to TTRPGs in digital format and printing them yourself. I think game books optimized for being cheap to print at home are a good throw in the current market

Had some Thoughts™ about card games, decks, draws, and such while walking to the store, so gonna ramble a bit, mostly in relation to a thing I know I need to balance in my #mechbuilderTTRPG (but have handled entirely differently in the #deckbuilderTTRPG). Slow rambling 🧵

#deckbuilderTTRPG: Pick background, starting gear, distribute 5 levels to the various classes available, build a deck with the 10 card options you got from those classes.
December 3, 2025 at 12:27 AM
Because I need to redo my pinned post at some point, but I'm too lazy too right now, a small thread of my projects. First off my most feature complete is #deckbuilderTTRPG which has a playtest on itch. Classes give you cards to build your deck, face off against self-playing monster decks/adventures

That realization I'm only working on #CatgirlsInPowerArmor right now to delay converting #deckbuilderTTRPG into a proper pdf for itch, because doing so means making some sort of public facing site...and also cuz I still don't have a goddamn name for the game!
February 25, 2025 at 5:23 AM
Gonna bemuse for a bit about #deckbuilderTTRPG (Also known as Arcana now, but you know, I've been using that tag for ages):

Part of the development path has been to make the game more and more GM-less. As it is now, the battles can be entirely GM-less. Monster decks play themselves after all.
March 17, 2026 at 6:33 AM
Every time I go to describe my #deckbuilderTTRPG my brain immediately wants to say its 'setting androgynous' which I know isn't right, but my brain has stuck to that word and I can never remember the right one without having to look it up!
February 25, 2025 at 5:44 AM
Doesn't fit that indie/3 inspirations, but here's the 4 inspirations for my #TTRPG (specifically, the #deckbuilderTTRPG)

Ahh fuck, now I have too many system ideas. A little unhinged compared to #deckbuilderTTRPG because in that one I had to theme them around classes and working together, this I more have to make sure they're balanced by Cost but I can give tons of options.
