All we see today can be traced back to Reagan/Thatcher's dergulation of banks and markets. There is still time for people to call on their governments to bring in reregulation, of tech and AI industries too. There is no reason why a handful of people/institutions should have control over us.

It's fair to say regulation is yimby's top priority. What's wrong is that "regulatory reform" is a euphemism for deregulation. The yimby program is the opposite of dergulation; it seeks to impose uniform rules on a chaotic system of arbitrary local decisions made by small local interest groups.

"Repeal Gun Industry Immunity" is an attempt to let people sue gunmakers for the misuse of their products.
"Smart Guns" are unreliable, there's a reason they aren't popular.
