What happens if you put them in the microwave?

I hate most Easter candy. HOWEVER...

daily kos diarists need their own little internet, like the reactive tiny dog area at the dog park
And I will absolutely defend a klansman’s right to hold the opinion that me and my family shouldn’t exist. He has a constitutional right to a shitty opinion. This is America.

Besides, while we were both obsessive diarists, many of the conversations the two of us had in private during the 1860s went unrecorded.

i had a professor in undergrad who said that male authors are understood to be capable of abstraction from themselves whereas all women are diarists whose work directly reflects them, even to their admirers, and i think a lot about how that effect propels heightened scrutiny on certain authors

tried to chat to John Prescott for the Londoner's Diary once but he told me that that he refused to speak to diarists and walked off, so I went to leave the room but turned out he was quite a slow walker so I ended up having to hold the door for him so he could keep blanking me, great times

I do so enjoy this attitude of “how could we ever know what these people, all of whom were obsessive diarists who wrote every passing thought down, were thinking? There’s no way to know what was on the mind of a man who wrote down every single thing he ate.”

Up the hill today looking for Ring Ouzels (0). Grinning at a recent memory of tromping along up there, when the chalk was wet & thick as plaster, with these 2 fine, fellow Guardian Country Diarists. A Derek between 2 Nics! Hope their boots recovered. @derekniemann.bsky.social @nicwilson.bsky.social

I remember back when I was racking up tons of haters at Daily Kos bc I was calling bullshit on two of the most popular but imo bad faith diarists:

David Sirota

Japan: Diarists have chronicled the comings and goings of cherry blossoms each year since A.D. 812

The 20-year average is on the steepest decline since records began, and has moved in perfect correlation with the age of burning fossil fuels

Another one of my charts of the year

Because your life has still intertwined with those of others, and that remains a fact. Your life has left traces. Ask archivists, diarists, historians...Everyone makes a contribution to history. So don't worry about your legacy and do not make monuments to yourself /end

During WWII, England had diarists, who wrote down history as it happened.

I did it with Covid. I kept 2 years of data on 2 states and 3 counties on spreadsheets to determine mine and my family's safety by tracking increasing or declining outbreaks.

Those sheets are in the safe.

It's relatable to think about 1930s diarists doing 500 words about going to the flicks or a chat at the bus stop and ending "Europe situation bad, I hope someone can stop that beastly Hitler". They didn't have people copying "Jolly good for Hitler" entries from some other diary on the next page tho

it is less than 48 hours since Daily Kos diarists were up in arms over this, come on

Absolutely hate all these spidery-handwriting South African war diarists.

The only people I hate more are the (no-doubt) English supply types denying them typewriters.
Been at the archives for two minutes and I'm already annoyed by a surgeon who was born 190 years ago.

I thank you to all who have posted for years about COVID. You are the modern diarists. You are documenting everything that’s happened. That’s really vital, we might not be breaking through but we are documenting how we ended up in this point in time. Download your posts if you haven’t closed your x

After seeing YET ANOTHER UK ageplay event having to retreat because of some sensationalist pearl-clutching puritan diarists (I refuse to legitamise what they do by calling it a profession), the world feels like a very shitty place today.

Hope everyone affected can manage to salvage their plans.

CALLING ALL* DIARISTS, ESSAYISTS, MEMOIRISTS, and JOURNALERS!

Last week’s workshop was such a hit. Could this week’s be… even better?!

*“All” meaning “sex workers”… Sorry, squares.

One of my 1920s diarists seems to eat nothing but egg and chips.
