I'd appoint myself to an Earldom and peace the f- out.
Would genuinely respect Starmer if he just said "nuts to this I am resigning" unfortunately there's literally no incentive for him to resign because Team Andy Brain Geniuses have basically signalled he can carry on indefinitely. Catherine West is our only hope!

Is “ne’er-do-well heir to an earldom” a job? Because I don’t really think I’m eligible for that position.
Welp I'm underpaying Bob Cratchit

My Darling, Dreadful Thing X The London Séance Society

A fabled witch howled the Blackstone Curse and mired generations in madness, murder, and mayhem. Only a monster and an heir to an earldom may break the spell, but first they must find each other.

Great career, but please go away now. Unfortunately, NYT reports he also wants his daughter as his successor. Gonna pass down that seat like an earldom or dukedom of old. Just another sign of the rot in our democracy.

His dad was a life peer and his wife is going to inherit an Earldom. Middle Class people do not go to Westminster and Eton.

Read that initially as ‘graceful earldom’ and was like, they made Rick a peer of the realm? Nice!

Look at you with your two slices of bread. How is your earldom?

Warning: book contains

* a pair of brothers passing around an earldom like a hot potato shouting "not it!" (The title in question is technically "Earl of Arsell" but they call it "Earl of Arse")
* denigrates nobility (as should we all)

Reporting like this from the BBC, and others following it seems confused. Per the statement, he will stop *using* the title.

I don't **think** there is a legal way for him to renounce the Dukedom of York, Earldom of Inverness, or Barony of Killyleagh.

I do think of all writers, Kleypas does an excellent job putting the full cost of this system on display, especially in the Ravenels series.

you inherit an earldom and it's a fucking albatross of debt and decay that's going to ruin you (Cold-Hearted Rake)

More progress ahead of Saturday's game. Richard of Cornwall, his son (sporting what I have suddenly realised looks like a mumu with its floral pattern...), and several men connected with the Cornish earldom.

I can’t take the credit for the observation, but an OBE on top of an Earldom means you become an Earlobe.

Aubrey loses his mind and dies, Ruthven makes off with a petty earldom, Aubrey's sister is dead and drained of blood.

Weddings are festive in Trikruna, so the Laity guest wear festival clothing. Usually white shirts/blouses with dyed skirts/trousers. The clothing is accented with red sashes, vests, or shawls. The cuffs & collars have red/green embroidery. Styles vary from earldom to earldom

Hello, #MayWorldbuilders! This week's worldbuilding theme is MARRIAGE. What kind of clothes are worn during weddings in your fictional world? Consider others besides the bride and groom. Are there rules about what the guests can or cannot wear? Does the officiant wear official garments?

Different peerage, it seems. You’re speaking of the Earldom of Arran in the Scottish peerage, while the various Arthurs Gore are Earls of Arran in the Irish (or “Irish”) one.

Eleanor’s brother had got the family earldom restored by converting to Protestantism, and married well, as did his other sisters, but Eleanor was almost 40, and enjoyed books and making jokes, and had no interest in men. Clearly she had to get herself to a nunnery at the earliest opportunity
