Today I booked my flights to @laworldcon.bsky.social — likely the last U.S. Worldcon for many years — plus bought a membership to @eastercon2027.org — so I can visit with those friends who wisely no longer find my country a welcome destination for international travelers. Because community matters.

This is one reason I attended @easterconuk.bsky.social last year and will attend @eastercon2027.org next year. Donald Trump has done everything in his power to make my country unsafe for international travelers, so if I want to see my overseas friends again, I need to be the one to cross the pond.
Having an in person international or national event in America? Are you weighing factors like lodging and transport? Cool stuff to do? Here's a map to consider if any of your attendees may possibly, even remotely be LGBTQIA. And you care about them.

Ten people came up and asked me questions about publishing during Eastercon, which was great. Several also asked me to think about putting myself forward as a programme participant for @eastercon2027.org in Glasgow, having purposely not done that this year. We'll see!

Is this an unpopular opinion? I attend a lot of programme at the cons I go to, and generally agree that single talks are often better than panels. I'd love a few TED-style sessions. Probably too late for @satellitecons.bsky.social, but how about it @eastercon2027.org?
Maybe unpopular opinion but SFF conventions should have way fewer panels and way more "somebody talks about something random and interesting for fifteen minutes"
