using "smash and crab" for the headline here is the kind of thing that should get an editor promoted
Six men stole 3,000 pounds of frozen snow crab from a tractor-trailer while the driver was asleep in the front of the truck in Southwest Philadelphia Tuesday morning.

Here's an idea for editors, let's do a little roleplay.

Writer: "I have a contrarian take!"

Editor: "Is it fucking stupid?"

Writer: "Well yes, but it bucks the consensus. No one else is saying it."

Editor: "Is that because the consensus is correct?"

Writer: "... yes but... "

<hang up>

This is hilarious. And WaPo for quite a while now has refused to say who is on its editorial board, maybe to spare them public humiliation? These are the only people listed as being in leadership:

Get out of your comfort zone and get yourself an editor too.

Everybody needs an editor.
I am a couple months into Spanish language classes and man, it’s humbling to be awful at something.

Just mistake after mistake after mistake.

But it also makes me appreciate the skill of others and the work required to learn something new.

Ge out of your comfort zone folks. It’s good for you.

In this first installment of “Sound Off,” Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for The New York Times, speaks with Mark Jacob, former metro editor for The Chicago Tribune, who shares his criticism...

I couldnt find a single editor to commission a freelance story on Brazilian elections.

Not a single editor
"Why would Americans care about an election in Brazil": well, Brazilian far-rightists seem to care a great deal about political dynamics in the U.S. Isn't that interesting?
