King Laurel III is the reigning king of Elux in Prideseeker. He's a very pragmatic man, often regarded as being somewhat stoic, yet he knows how to appeal to public emotion and sentiment. Laurel III has some very grand ambitions, which will forever change the course of Elux...
Today's prompt: talk about a ruler in your world. What is their title and what are they like?

Both Elux and Hol tend to be a bit wary regarding outsiders/foreigners. Elux in-particular has very strict immigration laws, while most tribes in Hol will dismiss outsiders outright the majority of the time (though exceptions can sometimes be made for merchants and priests.)

Elux, the primary setting of Prideseeker, is a kingdom dating back nearly a thousand years. The nation prides itself on its art and culture, as well as its elite order of knights.
Let's start with some basics. To cover a wide range of settlement types, I've tried to phrase these prompts as generally as possible.
With that: what will you be talking about to either share or build fresh?

So I actually came up with the Kingdom of Elux back in highschool. It was originally going to be the very first nation of Theryl I chose to explore in my debut novel, but I wound up lacking confidence in nearly every draft I started.
You've gotta be building this place to do something, so what's it for?
Is it meant to be your MC's hometown, evil lair, or some mandatory beach episode silliness for your or your players' characters? Or, perhaps, is it simply an exercise for yourself?

The kingdom of Elux was once little more than a series of small tribes scattered across the plains. That changed when a man named Rose Regnus began to dream of uniting the plains-dwellers into something grander.
We've got resources and fancy natural spaces covered. Now, let's move to why it's even here.
In your world's history, what was the reason this place was established? Was it as something like a trade hub or military outpost? Potential not yet discovered?

In Elux, those born to wealthier or more notable families often tend to become knights, politicians, or in some cases artists. As Elux prizes its elite military so highly, metalworkers are highly valuable to the economy, even if they might not be held in the highest esteem...
TGIF or something. I'm going to ruin it by asking you about work. More specifically, the predominant workforce in this place.
Then take it one step further: what's sold elsewhere (including non-physical "goods") and what must be brought in from outside?

The Royal Knights' Academy of Elux teaches a variety of skills: swordplay, spearplay, horseback riding, archery, and strategy. They also teach some basic subjects such as money management, etiquette, history and literature.

Well, the events of Prideseeker see the entire kingdom of Elux on the brink of a civil war, so that's a thing. Also a slight rise in monster activity but I'm sure that won't amount to much...
Thinking more on current events here... what's going on RIGHT NOW here?
What are your (or your players') characters about to walk into like they've just come back with pizza and now everything's the Darkest Timeline (or not)?

I made a map in MS Paint showing the second floor of Orathea castle, the seat of power in Elux. This isn't the ENTIRE second floor, mind you, just the part that seemed most relevant.

As stated before: Elux is known for its wide, sweeping plains and grasslands. This offers a lot in the way of fertile farmland, especially thanks to the great river that flows from north to south. The river is also a source of fresh fish.
Yesterday jumped this ahead for some (oops 😅), so consider this from the view of the place's early history:
Permanent settlements usually get built around a natural resource. What's plentiful here to make it happen? Fertile land, fresh water, minerals?

Theryl has a number of fantastical beasts, and my characters have relied on a fair few of them. One notable example are the griffons native to Elux, which are primarily ridden by elite, specially-trained knights.

Every nation in Theryl has its own marriage rituals.
In Elux, the betrothed swear an oath of undying love and devotion toward each other while holding hands. No gifts are exchanged during the ceremony, but some couples give each other flowers after the fact.

Elux suffers from a pretty serious classism situation; the divide between the rich and the poor is a major plotpoint throughout Prideseeker.
Hyo has a pretty serious class divide too, with the wealthy living higher up on the sacred mountain while the poor scavenge the tundra.

This was definitely a fun and interesting prompt to partake in. I had to switch gears slightly on a couple days, but I wanted to focus the prompt primarily around Elux, the main setting of Prideseeker.
We're at the end! For this last day, I'll leave it as a free space or for your closing thoughts! Did this do what it needed for you? Did you learn a lot or make friends? :3
(I'd also appreciate feedback to improve for next year, maybe. 👉👈)

The kingdom of Elux is known for its sweeping grassy plains. There is a swampland to the south near the coast and a large river that runs from north to south. The capital of Vasikia is located atop the Orphex Plateau, surrounded by high walls. It's incredibly hard to siege...
Let's get to the "city-builder" stuff. Where is this getting put on your world?
Will or did this impact design choices for features like architecture, available resources, or culture? Or is there a reason that won't matter (like tech or magic: day 13)? 👀
