Seems possible to me that AI unleashes a torrent of attentional pollution that renders the entire enterprise unworkable.
NEW: We've uncovered a new AI tactic being deployed on TikTok: A creator's verbatim words stolen and recited by an AI influencer. Experts told us this kind of trickery has overlap with the methods of state-backed influence operations. W/ @shannonbond.bsky.social

This TikTok video is fake, but every word was taken from a real creator
TikTok researchers and users say there is yet another type of deception to look out for on the hit video app: Deepfake videos that copy the exact words of a real creator but in a different voice.

AI is enterprise software TruCoat, everyone offering it is Jerry Lundegaard
Only someone who has no idea how ill-suited machine learning is to the study of images would spout this nonsense, but SUNY Albany just dropped $200 million on this doomed enterprise. Links below to my articles on AI and art history www.albany.edu/news-center/...

With “Wikimedia Enterprise”, AI companies have to use (and pay for) dedicated APIs to scrape data, which helps to limit the strain on Wikimedia servers. (See eg arstechnica.com/information-...) This is a good thing for Wikimedia and for its readers.

Enterprise software companies had a short-lived run where they competed on usability and product-led growth which seems to be over.

Now every SaaS app seems to be converging on the same UX monstrosity, complete with AI features of dubious value.

Gotta say that all the people telling me "the enterprise will save AI" are really quiet for some reason? i hope they are ok

It’s such a bummer. Online/asynchronous/virtual teaching can be incredibly valuable and with a little extra structure can be an amazing and scalable resource but now AI has rendered the whole enterprise impossible.

I've seen enough: This is the beginning of the end for the generative AI boom.

18 months in, results for enterprise AI are underwhelming. Demand for AI consumer products is low. Gen AI is derided, protested and resisted. Its cultural moment has peaked.

Nvidia is shedding value, OpenAI is sputtering, dubious generative AI ads are flooding the market, and signs point to a deflating tech bubble. The great degeneration begins.

The constant condescension about ai is another aspect of it that makes me hate it more. The assumption is you can only be against it because you don't understand it like I do. No man. I don't like voluntarily making every human enterprise dependent on a tech run by a tiny group of financial maniacs
