I am increasingly coming to the view that the primary sociopolitical problem in America is a (deliberately created) illiteracy crisis, of which fascism is an epiphenomenon.
No books. No teachers. Just a centralized AI that serves as intercessor between each child and the world's knowledge.

It's literally a pre-reformation view, with Grok in the place of Yahweh.

software engineers as a professional class are on average deeply reactionary and being able to pretend this isn't the case is another dead ZIRP epiphenomenon

blaming Biden for running again is just an epiphenomenon of the party's legislative leadership's total aversion to ever taking responsibility for fucking anything, incuding their own failures. this is multiplied by the fact that the New York-based media is also looking for a scapegoat.
"Denouncing Biden’s run now that he’s a political nonentity—out of office and perhaps very near death—isn’t taking a brave stand against the internal culture of the Democratic Party. It’s a reflection of it"

Dirtbagism is an epiphenomenon of today's digital mediation
I wrote about the continued appeal of dirtbag politics, from the left to liberals, and how only a politics of grace and edification can save our liberal democracy

From a Christian perspective Pokémon presents a deeply anti-anthropic world where humanity is nothing more than an evolutionary epiphenomenon of the eternal circulation of souls of talking birds and vegetables and rocks and shit

anyway the fact that crypto is the canonical solution to this problem is an epiphenomenon of trans folks being overrepresented in software. i think every cryptographer i know except one is trans.

The siloing of "idpol" from "real class struggle" is an enactment of racism, misogyny and queerphobia by white dudes who believe their oppression by capital is real and our oppression by them is either fake or an unimportant epiphenomenon.

if you think about it, all of this [gestures widely] is just an epiphenomenon of ZIRP ending, which means it's an epiphenomenon of the 2007 financial crisis

Corruption is the most important story in the world. From a Douglass North perspective, authoritarian rule is an epiphenomenon of personalistic control over resources, ie corruption

Our ingrained idea that popular culture primarily means youth culture is a weird epiphenomenon of the fact that young people are the demographic most easily manipulated by advertising and is bad for almost everyone
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Every time they try to theorize bigotry out of existence as just an epiphenomenon of class difference, they wind up defining it anew.

As horrifying as it is, Trump sharing an AI video of himself this weekend without appearing to realize it's fake is just an epiphenomenon of the ongoing conversation he's dragged America into: one only with, about and for himself, whose only participation is submission.
It took Trump 60 minutes to murmur out a wet "that's all, folks!" before the UN Tuesday. Given that he was talking to himself and no one outside the greater Trumpiverse can hear him, it's the only thing he could say.

They conclude the latter, but I object to the question. When someone says "epiphenomenon," I hear "doesn't fit my theory."

Men are reading fewer novels than ever.

Is this part of a gendered historical-social dialectic, an epiphenomenon of the male loneliness crisis, or a sign that corporate wokeness has ruined mass culture?

Depends whom you ask!

Again, LLMs are, at their root, just a DDoS attack against the entire concept of "doing things"; any perceived "utility" is essentially a sort of meaningless epiphenomenon happening ahead of the arrival of the full wave of the naturally-occurring DDoS.

i'd generalize this to the reality that epiphenomenon is what trump is in general because no one likes the idea of him being an active agent that defeated the establishments of two parties to become president twice and changed america into his twisted image

A similar situation exists in Germany: dying regions are choosing fascists. This demographic decline is directly linked to support for the AfD. Perhaps the gravitation toward fascism is an epiphenomenon of that dying-out process.
