Hello Lexus ES, American version of Toyota's upcoming Chinese-market bZ7. Interesting turn of development. New EV-capable GA-K platform is clearly a tallboy. This sedan has a huge footprint too. Methinks it's more than just an ES replacement. We'll see. That glass roof better open, mutherf**ker.
2026 Lexus ES500e sedan. It's that awesome copper color Lexus uses. With dual electric motors, AWD, and a huge interior this social security special is going upmarket. There's a single motor FWD variant too [ES350e]. Don't want an EV? Lexus will sell you a 2.5L-HEV variant [ES350h]. Supposedly it has decent pace & range in EV form. Toyota is learning... 😎 The moonroof better open though. Sick of this trend of fixed glass roofs. That's a deal killer in our household. Not that we'd consider this car, but it's a terrible trend that affects many future cars. I think this could replace the afterthought Lexus LS too. It's huge. It's getting executive level options. And do Lexus buyers outside of me care which wheels drive the car? To that point, should I grab an IS500 while I can? If my loser-ish career existence allows, indefinitely would get one. But there are so many reasons someone like me should just do the safe thing and not do it.

Interesting to see the base price of the ES350e (EV) comes in a wee bit less than the ES350h (hybrid).

The economies of scale of using the same motors and battery packs with the bZ and upcoming Highlander EV is probably helping a little bit.
