The actual spy, Esterhazy, got away and sneered at them from, one of the officers involved committed suicide after having been discovered to have fabricated evidence, etc... What's worse is that one of his granddaughters, Madeleine Levy, died in Auschwitz.

Auhhhggg..at least Choco was..sorta spared this time? He was frozen-ish, and Esterhazy did atleast mercy kill him..but like..aaaughh
(Also all these fics where Choco dies after the war hurt so bad, because Dark Cacao is probably actively searching for his son/or worse, he'll never even know abt it)

It mattered little, Esterházy knew, as they wiped the fresh splatters as best they could. Once Dark Choco’s body was sufficiently frozen free of germs, every piece would be put to use. The Cake Hounds would teethe on bones, and the rest fed to the grinder.

Yep, it's bonkers. I'd say let's go back to classic patronage à la Esterhazy but like... all these flamboyantly rich arseholes have NO TASTE so there goes that. (There are probably quite a few non-flamboyant ones who DO have taste, but we don't hear about them much.)
