Love this! #eurostar30
Digital pic of a print when the Eurostar was WIP. This was before the actual train existed - our model went straight to Tomorrow's World for Thursday telly then on to the coachbuilders in Derby for measurement and spec. Nose quite different to the finished mockup. Rebuilt and resprayed AGAIN after.

When the leaving do is for someone who has been part of a very special place to work right from the start, you know it's going to be epic. Nana's emotional last train after 30 years with eurostar.

Good evening Glasgow! Here's your occasional reminder that the plan was once for eurostar trains to run from here to mainland Europe...

Just over 3 months to go until eurostar marks 30 years of linking the UK with our nearest neighbours in mainland Europe. It would be lovely to hear your memories and see your photos.

No wires! Flashback to 2007 and the last year of eurostar using London Waterloo. Running on third rail, a class 373 passes over Juxon Street in Lambeth. I miss that livery and logo!

East meets west in Berlin: The unlikely combination of a eurostar class 373 and an East German Deutsche Reichsbahn train at Eurailspeed 98. Unthinkable less than a decade before. I miss the optimism of that era.

Missed the last train from Waterloo to Paris by 17 years. Was on time for an absolutely epic evening with colleagues past and present. A fantastic way to celebrate 3 decades of bringing people together across the Channel.

Once upon a time, a train was created to take people under the sea to and from a small island. At first, they called it a TGV Transmanche. Then someone decided it needed a more snappy name. A star was born. A eurostar...

And back to the station for the last train to London with added emotion this evening. It's all the more acute when it's someone leaving who is also a friend and was there at the beginning. A shared history of being there right at the start of something unique and very special.

Did you know? When eurostar trains travel under the sea, sand accumulates on the outside. The airflow at 300 kmh dries it, and when they stop in Paris, it falls off and forms mini sand-dunes.

Sunday shift to Paris. Here's a reminder of how it would have looked if you travelled with us in the early years of eurostar. Uniform by Balmain and a lot of yellow.

A month of two big anniversaries: Happy events that for me stand out like no others from my youth, and that brought people closer together. Freedom of movement is truly a precious thing.

This image of Alec Guinness in today's paper brought back memories of the early days of eurostar. I saw him pass through Waterloo International in 1995/6 and was ever so slightly starstruck.

Morning! Bonjour! Goedemorgen!
Next month, it'll be 30 years since the Channel Tunnel opened. Where did the time go? In the meantime, it's a Brussels shift with the 07:04 from London.

How it all started. My first day at eurostar was 1 week after the service began. Here's a rare photo of me in our original Balmain uniform. Very glad we don't have to wear a hat any more!

On this day 10 years ago: Our brand new e320 train was shown off to the press and media for the first time. It was a proud moment. I had spent 18 months or so on secondment working on the Passenger Information System part of the new fleet project.

Valid from 24 September 1995: Timetable from our first year. London to Paris 3 hours and Brussels 3 hours 15. Separate timetable until late October when the UK, France and Belgium were all on the same time for a month.

Waterloo sunset: On this day in 2007, the last eurostars used Waterloo International. The next day, St Pancras would open. There was a real end of term feeling for the staff. The station had been our home for 13 years.

Last train to Trancentral? A bit of fun with the destination displays while we were doing our familiarisation training on the e320 in 2015. We had a trip to Dollands Moor freight yard in Folkestone and back as part of it.

And now for something completely different... 🎤

An interview with a French radio station for a feature on 30 years of eurostar and the Channel Tunnel.

It was nice to do it in French and hopefully show how seriously we take speaking the languages of our closest neighbours at e*

A eurostar on the Thames instead of under the Channel. For our 10th anniversary in 2004, a power car was put on a barge and sent up the Thames as a publicity stunt. It doesn't get much more central London than this!
