I took this in 1978 in the Everglades. This gator was sunning itself and I was about ten feet away, laying on the ground. Gators are pretty mellow when sunning...I am alive to prove it! I would not do this anywhere near a croc in Zambia!!

Heading back to Florida soon! Here's a dusky pygmy rattlesnake from a trip to the Everglades earlier this year.

By foot, tour boat, tram, swamp buggy, and airboat - in each of the 4 visitor centers, I saw as much of the 1.5 million acres of the Everglades National Park as I could over 4 days! #NatParkGeek #saveourparks #findjoy #roadtrip #getoutside #protectpublicland #EvergladesNP #Florida #nationalparks

A6: EvergladesNP! A ranger once said “the Everglades is not a park like you see out west. Those parks scream at you with their grand landscapes making it obvious why it became a park. Everglades is more subtle and you have to listen carefully because the Everglades whispers at you” #parkchat

One of the reasons I LOVE photographing shore birds is because of how seamlessly they blend into the sands And this was my first snowy! 📍 @EvergladesNP #findyourpark

In the Everglades, a serene energy emanates from its creatures. This osprey charmed me for nearly an hour, observing its surroundings and revealing its quirky nature while watching me in return.📍 @EvergladesNP #findyourpark 📸 @CanonUSA EOS R5 | RF 100-500mm #Birding #Audubon #CanonUSA #EvergladesNP

Captured this incredible scene of a young eagle in the Everglades. The perfect setting to share this moment. Taken with a #Canon EOS R5 (Nov2025). #EvergladesNationalPark #BaldEagle #EvergladesNP

I love how the elegance of the Black Vulture stands out. I discovered this one along the Everglades' shell-covered shores. These often-misunderstood birds are the ecosystem's vital "cleanup crew." @evergladesnps #NaturePhotography #Birding #Audubon #AdorationforNature #CanonUSA #EvergladesNP

There is a frantic sort of grace in the hunt. For an hour, I watched him carve shadows into the salt water, a sequence of jumps and splashes that felt less like survival and more like a ballet. The marsh is quiet, but his dance was loud and the fishing techniques were impressive. #EvergladesNP

Witnessing an Osprey stretch its wings and settle was unmatched. I captured this intense pre-dive moment before it snatched a fish right in front of me.📍 @EvergladesNP #findyourpark 📸 @CanonUSA EOS R5 | RF 100-500mm #Audubon #CanonUSA #EvergladesNP

Caught the gaze of this beauty while driving through #EvergladesNationalPark. It’s these moments of connection that I strive to share—the feeling that we are just visitors in their kingdom.📍@EvergladesNP #findyourpark 📸 @CanonUSA EOS R5 | RF 100-500mm #Birding #Audubon #CanonUSA #EvergladesNP

The Belted #Kingfisher is a test of my patience. She lingered long enough for me to capture her poised ready-to-dive, but only seconds later she was swooping through the trees.📍@EvergladesNP #findyourpark 📸 @CanonUSA EOS R5 | RF 100-500mm #Birding #Audubon #CanonUSA #EvergladesNP
