A prodigy in the Ritual Sciences, Riaken shows more of a head for figures and logic than he does less fixed arts the rest of his family comes to so naturally. This is in part due to childhood hobbling from his overbearing mother who did not allowed him to developed a voice as a musician or poet in childhood. None the less, Rikken inherited the physical attributes of his other kin, and can see his magical intent impressed upon the world around him as a visual rubric onto which he can draft his glyphs. For this reason, angles and lines it would take most artist hours to calculate, Riagen can draw up in mere minutes with unparalleled artistic precision. He is one of unsung members of the family whose names will go unremembered as no birth resembling theirs exists in the poem foretelling the generations of family members to come. What this means precisely is impossible to say for certain, but most Cuinns would believe it most likely his mother had stepped out. Though they’d never say that to someone who wasn’t a direct blood relation of course. While Riagen brings his father nothing but shame and frustration compared to his prodigal older brother, he is his mother’s favorite, a dynamic that put him and his elder brother at odds despite their affection for one another as they were often pitted against one another as proxies in the ongoing civil war. Joining the Knights of Ogdoad was meant to be a way to establish a unique identity in the wake of his mother and brother’s strong influences, but serving the Propatr often puts him back into the all to familiar position of yes man. Lately a feeling of deep unease has tormented him waking or dreaming.

Rikken uses a wand comb to separate fate and retribution as well as smooth time, fortifying the ritual space against magical backlash and allowing the magic to dilate, that more might be done in a shorter span. Combs are common in early wand usage and were used by seid women in Northern Europe to control the fates of battles from afar as well as capture dead spirits to commune with. Those combs were often larger and mounted on staves, but wandering wise women sometimes left smaller examples. Often made of wood for ease of crafting, these staves could be made of anything from ivory to bronze. It is very rare, if ever, that they are found in the possession of men. But modern sensibilities about magic differ from that of the period. Norse trading settlements spread use of these tools to Gaul, the Rusland and the Celtic Isles.

Higher ritual work requires use of a circle to distinguish and sanctify casting space as well as to refine magical intent. As such, geometric artists, gifted in both form and hieroglyph, an intertextual language of images stitched through the e tapestry of the interwoven magical cultures of the world are required for advanced spellwork of this nature. This requires natural skill, pursued interest and an advanced education starting in childhood before formal education commences in adolescence. Up until the Witchcraft Act 1886, which outlawed ritual to keep increasingly curious mundane peoples from encroaching across the instated divide built to protect and obscure witches, these artists would have held high level positions. Master Dee once served as court astrologer and magician to both Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I. But in the modern world, these practitioners have only two career paths; those being either government research or crime. Most do as Sophia Diograise did and pursue governmental employment, knowing, wisely, that the hand that draws the circle is easier to divine than the hand that write the word as they might be matched to their originator in both form and magical signature. But when Rikken drew a perfect circle with no preparation during the presentation of his year 5 Treatsieon forbidden magiks, he shocked the audience into a standing ovation and was recruited by the Knights of Ogdoad immediately, dropping out of school the next day. To use a staff in drawing a circle properly, an artist will use their own body as a compass by standing in the center and turning about face. Riaken does not need to stand at the center to produce a circle of quality. According to himself, he does not draw but trace, implying he may see wefts as some in his family, including his elder brother, do.

Martin has spent all his life running. He cannot remember where to or what from, but the terror is with him almost every waling moment even when he cannot trust himself or anyone else.
Martin Wilk went missing as a boy. No one knows why, or where he went, but when they found him he was covered in mud, scared out if his mind. Ever since, he’s been the only one able to hear the call of the horn, or see the huntsmen. He fears being outside at night, drinks to cope. His relationship with Seolan is often strained by his paranoia. Fears he has about Seo’s attachment to his family, wether of not they’re complicit in his torment. Regardless, Seo cares for him and they remain tied together.
