This is in part due to childhood hobbling from his overbearing mother who did not allowed him to developed a voice as a musician or poet in childhood. None the less, Rikken inherited the physical attributes of his other kin, and can see his magical intent impressed upon the world around him as a visual rubric onto which he can draft his glyphs. For this reason, angles and lines it would take most artist hours to calculate, Riagen can draw up in mere minutes with unparalleled artistic precision. He is one of unsung members of the family whose names will go unremembered as no birth resembling theirs exists in the poem foretelling the generations of family members to come. What this means precisely is impossible to say for certain, but most Cuinns would believe it most likely his mother had stepped out. Though they’d never say that to someone who wasn’t a direct blood relation of course. While Riagen brings his father nothing but shame and frustration compared to his prodigal older brother, he is his mother’s favorite, a dynamic that put him and his elder brother at odds despite their affection for one another as they were often pitted against one another as proxies in the ongoing civil war. Joining the Knights of Ogdoad was meant to be a way to establish a unique identity in the wake of his mother and brother’s strong influences, but serving the Propatr often puts him back into the all to familiar position of yes man. Lately a feeling of deep unease has tormented him waking or dreaming.

Seolan and Riaken only manage to defeat the strongest witch born in the last five generations because they committed incest which according to alchemy gives them more spirit than him because, as an orphan and the last of his line, he is unable to commit incest…. Food for thought

Familiars work differently for Bansheeborn O’Cuinns than they do for most witches, being born with them as animals they can manifest.

The animals repeat, implying a protection from ancestors to their newly born descendants that transcends death
Rikken’s familiar is a Sable. Spiritually they represent wealth, luxury, the destruction of marriage, mischief, and in Chinese lore, the stealing of souls Seolan’s familiar is a black dog. He has an unusuall affinity for his familiar and does not see it as a separate entity at all, choosing to manifest it often for personal enjoyment rather than usefulness.

Cryptid screen shot of quick sketches of the boys’ familiars. Seo is a Black Dog spirit loyal but deadly and Rikken is a sable, stealer of souls, ruiner of marriages, always manages to get out of traps.
The O’Cuinn’s have a strict policy about not telling outsiders that their familiars are not corporeal animals but rather extensions of their bodies and souls. Seo has a particularly strong bond to Shuck, and enjoys embodying his familiar for the fuck of it. Riaken is much less likely to utilize this gift, but his personality does reflect the mythological place weasels inhabit in European spirituality.
