Though Gaius might boast equality between Garleans and the Provincials, the speech reflects poorly on the practice put in motion. One needn't look far than the treatment of criminals under Valens sas Varro. The harder and longer their sentence are, the more Valens allow himself a little entertainments. It's common for prisoners of wars and criminals to join the military as an alternative to serving their sentence, the problem is convincing those who had fought in the war to draw their blade for the enemy and the right person to... 'discipline' them. Torture? Blackmails? Why, such methods are expected from the Empire, of course. But all it takes was a deal, a little talk and convincing. For what difference do we have from one another? We all wear the same collars, no matter our standings. Some tighter than others. It won't always be the case, for when there's a chance to burn these collars, many will take it. To someday take back our own freedom, with our fangs decorated with the blood of our 'masters.' That is what this all for, this I believe." - Excerpt from the Journal of VIIth Renegades' Legatus.

It’s genius really, it keeps their image of a benevolent and orderly Garlean while people like him are seen as the savages who were more than willing to snitch and kill one another even under service of Garlemald. A stern but fair figure, it can't be further from the truth. That’s why they always turned to him nowadays, Zoticus sas Marinum, the Disciplinary. They call him, the tag on his leash by his master.

But to Zoticus, all he saw are wolves at the feet of the Emperor, ready to tear him apart should they manage to win the greater sway of the others. An ellipsus made snippet, read as follow; "Well, um." Saga set down his rifle. He looked at Zoticus, and back to Venceslaus again. "What do I have to do?" The Hrothgar shrugged. "Stand. Watch. Report observation. Helpful if subject capable of providing useful feedback." He maintained an unwavering eye, staring directly at the Raen's own single one. The Legatus smile somewhat brightens, this is an interesting opportunity to see whether Venceslaus might find kindred spirit in Saga or if it was Saga who would find it in the other. Both are masters at their own respective arts of combat, and when it comes to spells and technology, Zoticus can see how both can have overlapping similarities. At least when it comes to the people who maintain and wield the knowledge. "Well then, Tribunus Saga, what do you think? Do you think yourself capable of the job?"

The Red Moon’s descent was inevitable, Nael had made sure of it. It’s all for Eorzea and The Empire to see, the dark sealed orb growing closer and closer from the distant sky. What was once a speck of dust now looms threateningly over them. The hours of reckoning are soon and they need to make their move fast. Zoticus’s own blood red eyes turned away from the moon. He pressed a hand to his chest, feeling his own heartbeat. There wasn’t much else they needed to prepare for, everything will either crumble to dust or they come out of this to continue on their duty. His duty to the men who had entrusted their life to him. His hand balled into a fist, he must not waver. Several footsteps clanking against the steel floor grow closer and closer. Joining here, atop the walls of the Castrum, are his most trusted men. An Ellipsus Snippet of the fanfic, which reads: 24th First Astral Moon, 1569 - Lake Silvertear, Mor Dhona Credit where credit’s due, just a tiny bit, the spots they’ve been assigned to rendezvous are quite strategic by Nael’s order. Who could have known the man can still care? Zoticus wouldn’t. It has a good view of Lake Silvertear below and the Agrius has begun its approach, assailed by hordes of dragons that appear to be none too pleased with their assault. Then, as if by miracle, the king of wyrm descends down to coil itself around the Agrius, destroying the massive fleet and sending it down into the lake. Font of aether spews out from whence it lands; the grave of the Empire’s proudest fleet and the Wyrm King as the decor to its tombstone. There was a nearby settlement that was wrought havoc from the aftermath, all lands down below were forever changed with the wave of aether and destruction caused by the event. Had they been sent to patrol down there, it would’ve been their end too.

As if his question had disturbed him. It didn’t. Not that he felt like it, but perhaps the lamenting thoughts in his mind had allowed his frustration to slip through, possibly shocking the others into stepping back and even wagging their tail warily. “Ah, Saga.” The Legatus’ expression softens. “Out to find fresh air? Careful, it’s rather cold tonight. We’re out on the side of Garlemald untouched still by the filth of central. So it’s bound to still be colder.” “Eh, what about you then, Sir?” Is he worried about him? Zoticus chortled. “Why, I’m just taking my fair share of fresh air. Besides, these colds are nothing to me. Tensions were high before, but it has died down since a couple days passed. Most of the squadron stuck around, following his direction as they headed to the extraction zone by airship. Nael wouldn’t care for the fate of the Agrius soldier, in fact, he might earn the man’s favor by simply eliminating any possible survivor. Adding more damning scorn to the XIVth and Gaius that the Meteor Project would be seen as the only way forward for them to go.
