Ellipsus snippet of the fic which reads: Despite coming from… wherever he’s from, Zoticus can never stand the cold. He prefers the dry heat of desert to deal with than this cold climate, he can see fog made of his breath. This is colder than Garlemald’s surrounding area, much higher and much… thinner air. Saga, on the other hand, doesn’t seem bothered. The wind may blow through them and he simply ducked down and let his bangs beat against the wind, then he continued his steps. Eventually, they reached atop a mountain and Saga looked down to his unfortunate companion. Oh… Saga couldn’t contain his smirk. “How’s the mountain climb, Sir? High and mighty?” “Quite so!” Zoticus let a shiver pass through his spine and shook his head, hands rubbing his sides repeatedly. “I’m starting to think this is the perfect exercise to… simply get ourselves used to the way around the mountains….” He shivered again, even if he attempted to act as if it didn’t bother him, standing straight and unbothered. An ellipsus made snippet, read as follow; Of course it fits perfectly. For a moment, he sees the sky familiar to him, from a distant memory. The green grassy fields of the ancient land, the towering thrones in the distance, bearing the face of his ancestor. The sky above was littered with stars and he often wonders… if that’s where he’ll rest. Will he be surrounded by his allies? His comrades? Will Saga be there? Ah… he should’ve been free there… in the grassfield… his hair never looks good stained with blood, they’re soft and gentle. Like a sheep’s wool. Saga would love the sheeps. He rubs the eye that once belongs to the Raen, now continuing to see through him. “I suppose I've experienced enough regret to stop pursuing this one dream.” He whispered, lowering the body of his fallen comrade to the water and rising to his feet.

An ellipsus made snippet, read as follow; The Xaela smiled, looking rather proud of himself and puffed his chest, tail still wagging behind him like a happy pup. “We’ll be closer to each other’s station this way and since you’re assigned to be my guard for our excursion, this should make it easier for us to be deployed together should the need arise or if the base is under attack, you'll be at my side already. Makes it easier for me- you to protect me." “W… WHAT?!” Saga couldn’t process much in the short amount of time, blinking and clutching his baggage with both hands, lest they fall in his time trying to understand what his Legatus just told him. He didn’t even watch his tone of voice, nor did he notice the man nodding rather happily. Too distracted to even realize this happens by intentions.

An ellipsus made snippet, read as follow; "Well, um." Saga set down his rifle. He looked at Zoticus, and back to Venceslaus again. "What do I have to do?" The Hrothgar shrugged. "Stand. Watch. Report observation. Helpful if subject capable of providing useful feedback." He maintained an unwavering eye, staring directly at the Raen's own single one. The Legatus smile somewhat brightens, this is an interesting opportunity to see whether Venceslaus might find kindred spirit in Saga or if it was Saga who would find it in the other. Both are masters at their own respective arts of combat, and when it comes to spells and technology, Zoticus can see how both can have overlapping similarities. At least when it comes to the people who maintain and wield the knowledge. "Well then, Tribunus Saga, what do you think? Do you think yourself capable of the job?"

As if his question had disturbed him. It didn’t. Not that he felt like it, but perhaps the lamenting thoughts in his mind had allowed his frustration to slip through, possibly shocking the others into stepping back and even wagging their tail warily. “Ah, Saga.” The Legatus’ expression softens. “Out to find fresh air? Careful, it’s rather cold tonight. We’re out on the side of Garlemald untouched still by the filth of central. So it’s bound to still be colder.” “Eh, what about you then, Sir?” Is he worried about him? Zoticus chortled. “Why, I’m just taking my fair share of fresh air. Besides, these colds are nothing to me. An ellipsus made snippet, read as follow; “Can I trust you will be fine on your own here? Even should they come looking for you?” There was no response from the Sniper, only his grip tightening against both guns as if strangling them. “I said I'll be fine,” he quietly huffed, pocketing the flare gun and holding his rifle with both hands again, quickly aiming them at the guard towers. “I'll shoot them before they get close.” It won't be easy, he's only one man. But any more and it'll only make it easier for the enemy to pinpoint his location. He'll just have to keep moving. But Zoticus, still unconvinced, can only put his trust in the man. What little there is he has. Their brush with death might not have appeared to shake him, but it leaves quite an impression. Turning around, he began his steps back to the encampment. But before he was out of earshot, he whispered, “I'm confident, in a pinch, you'll know what to do with the rest of those flares… Tribunus.” All the Legatus heard before he left the hill behind was a quiet scoff.

Yes, he still has a role to play. There won’t be rest for them after this, the walk back to the North would be cruel, the XIVth nor the VIth could care less of providing them a means to return home. They’d have to make it there through their own means. With what little supplies they have and gil. Zoticus glanced over to Saga, who stared back at him with his own face devoid of the life which shines upon the former Tribunus, his little glimmer of light, gone just like that. What was once a speck of dust now looms threateningly over them. The hours of reckoning are soon and they need to make their move fast. Zoticus’s own blood red eyes turned away from the moon. Tensions were high before, but it has died down since a couple days passed. Most of the squadron stuck around, following his direction as they headed to the extraction zone by airship. Nael wouldn’t care for the fate of the Agrius soldier, in fact, he might earn the man’s favor by simply eliminating any possible survivor. Adding more damning scorn to the XIVth and Gaius that the Meteor Project would be seen as the only way forward for them to go. And if it is, he’ll have more than enough ammunition to start the chaos within the Empire. Then, as if by miracle, the king of wyrm descends down to coil itself around the Agrius, destroying the massive fleet and sending it down into the lake. Font of aether spews out from whence it lands; the grave of the Empire’s proudest fleet and the Wyrm King as the decor to its tombstone.
