It's not a terribly bad looking movie, with acting around par that you would expect and a few gory deaths to satisfy the billing. Overall, though, I find it hard to recommend. 4

The music is thrilling, with hit after hit raising the ante as Freddie loses layers of clothing. It's pretty much a joy to watch if you are even in the slightest fans of the band. And who wouldn't be? 8

This plays out to good effect, with jump scares and really troubling manifestations of attachment. Is it all over the top? Sure. I think I compared it at the time with Backrooms, which, I felt, had more to offer in its ambiguity. 7

The Front Room (2024) is the only movie capable of making an evil, baby-biting Christian old lady who prays in tongues boring.🥱 I just posted a longer review on my blog and you can read it here:

How do you like your American propaganda? However you like it, Mayday's probably got you covered. But its lofty morality preaching and subpar twists mean it can never be something really memorable. 6

The movie tries a bit too hard to make sure it isn't telling the typical "guy obsesses over girl romantically" jig without offering a counter-stance. But it's all decently woven together, so how much you like it comes down to genre affinities. 6

Messy, muddy and mismarketed, #PaulGreengrass helms #TheUprising and mirrors modern equivalences in tales from 6 centuries ago as the Plague and the 14th century Peasants' Revolt swirl around #AndrewGarfield's The Ploughman. www.avforums.com/reviews/the-...

The Uprising (AKA The Rise of Robin Hood) Movie Review
Messy, muddy and mismarketed, Greengrass tries to find a voice for COVID and modern financial disparity in The Plague and the 14th Century Peasants' Revolt.

The action and visuals give it some momentum and I do want to support trying to do things differently. So I'll go with "it works well enough", but I can very well understand people who might just outright despise it. 6
