🌸✨ Flower Power Friday! ✨🌸

This week’s #FlowerPowerFriday is extra special because my Cattleya lueddemanniana is blooming—and it is stunning! 💜🌿

I got this beauty back in December 2023 at the Kona Orchid Society Holiday Party.

The last Friday in September is, traditionally, my last #FlowerPowerFriday of the year.

But there shall be more, not many, but more there shall be.

So enjoy a triple helping of Nature's Beauty with #WeirdNotWonderful ridiculousness.

In Ireland, it has rained every day in 2026 so far.

But hopefully this shall end soon, and there are signs it will, and #FlowerPowerFriday shall document this, and #WeirdNotWonderful #EnglishAbsurdity.

Floral tastemakers have been in touch, and I can now confirm, as the first Friday of April commences, purple is the latest thing, the new yellow, if you will.

And of course, those #WeirdNotWonderful creatures shall be adding Absurdity.

Flower Power Friday: Crown Flower (Calotropis gigantea)! 💜

Known for its regal shape and silvery leaves, this native beauty was a favorite of Queen Liliʻuokalani herself.

#FlowerPowerFriday, shall be, for the foreseeable future, daffodil-centric, blessed as we are with an awful lot of them...

But fear not, the #weirdnotwonderful creatures shall highlight the much required diversity we seek...

In a world full of Trumpian vulgarity and ugliness, it is good to remember that we still Swiss Rolls and Jam Tarts.

And, I suppose, the bountiful botanical beauty of Nature.

And the #EnglishAbsurdity of those #WeirdNotWonderful creatures.

This week's #FlowerPowerFriday has been brought to you by Cedric's Shoelaces. "Are your shoes constantly coming loose? sounds like you need Cedric's" terms and conditions apply.

That is correct, I have sold out 😞

"Where have all the flowers gone?" asked Pete Seeger.
"They're coming, you impatient ne'er-do-well." Mother Nature responded

The first Daffodil's of 2026 are here, much to the appreciation of humans, animals and #weirdnotwonderful creatures

🌸Flower Power Friday: Plumeria🌸

Plumeria, the iconic Hawaiian flower! 🌸🌺 Known for its sweet fragrance and colorful blooms, they’re popular for making leis too.

The first lei I ever made was from plumeria flowers. 🌿

A discarded Crisp packet marrs today's #FlowerPowerFriday.

I sometimes wish that those #WeirdNotWonderful Creatures were more like The Wombles, then the one pictured, would remove the crisp packet, take it back to its house, and turn it into something useful, like an Oven Glove.

It's the time of year when the world falls in love.

Good heavens, what am I prattling on about? that's Christmas, not spring.
Spring is when we look to Tom Lehrer for advice.

But Spring is here, and so is #FlowerPowerFriday and #WeirdNotWonderful Creatures.

An interesting fact about me, Carly Simon once wrote a song about me.

I know what you're thinking, "How vain is this guy?"
But fret not, my vanity doesn't prevent me enjoying #flowersonfriday, like this one daffodil, next to a #WeirdNotWonderful creature.

The humble Snowdrop, The first sign that nature is done with the cold, grey nights and wishes to expand its Colour palette, have stirred the soul, and the pen, of many a poet. I am speaking of true poets, not rhyming humorists, like myself.

A famous quote, often attributed to Confucius, but it actually said by Desmond Delphine, "Purple Flowers are nature's way of adding a touch of Purple into our purple-less lives".

Yes, it's not a great saying, but it seems apt for today's #FlowerPowerFriday.

Who shall be the next PM of the UK?

No one appears to know.

But fear not.

Whilst this decision gets solved, we can open a packet of Wine Gums and let our eyes feast on the floral finery on display, this #FlowerPowerFriday.

As a Humorist and Limericist, a large part of my life consists of me searching for the "right word" or, "Mot Juste" as the English say, because it sounds better in French...

But today it eludes me. So I will simply share, today's #FlowerPowerFriday, No words.
