Happy #FluorescentFriday! Here's some autofluorescence of #Mimulus trichomes on tiny leaves and I saw something very interesting - the brightest cells appears to be a small "neck" cell connecting the long stalk and the head of the trichome! No idea why but they look like cute tiny shiny donuts 😋🍩🔬🌱

#FluorescentFriday I saw some glowing cells from seedling explants. Hopefully these grow into transgenic shoots. We shall see.

#FluorescentFriday I was trying soaking seedlings in agro to see if I can get any expression. Looks like it worked. Took a tries: had to use lower OD (0.1 OD), short soak time (5 min) and dry the seedling very well with filter paper for 1 hr, otherwise agro overgrowth is too much.

Here is someting unexpected definitely worth to be highlighted on a #FluorescentFriday. @oliverrocks.bsky.social shows that unmixing of saturated lipids generates fascinating, super rigid tubules in the ER. This work gives new insight in how the cell may regulate sheet vs. tubular ER domains.
Rods have a continuous multilamellar architecture - unlike any known cellular membrane organisation - and occur across all cell types tested /3
