As a fellow expert in -s ending names, I completely disagree.
But I would suggest that your take is rooted in your fontography background and its efficiency needs preferring fewer characters.
Whereas I am more persuaded by the overall logic of the grammar to include a full 's.

I had a weird dream last night where I was watching someone play a game and commented on the the ess-set (ß character) in the dialog text and thought of Pentiment. And I am a native English speaker. Anyway, this has been my Ted Talk about my dreams about videogame fontography.
I got an email from Freeland's campaign. They're selling merchandise.
e.g. a sticker with a really ugly graphic that reads:
"True North Strong and Freeland"
The design/fontography is horrible and the play on words is amateur hour..
No words except embarrassing.
