natural regeneration in burned areas. I get ranty about the whole thing. Anyway, a tree farm isn't a forest and I'll die on that hill. Thanks for listening.

It would be lovely to have natural regeneration, but basically there isn’t any natural area to regenerate from, is there? No seed banks really left or proper natural areas for seeds to disperse from.
In truth, even assisted restoration will be difficult, and to what end? Silver birch forest?

Added some Forest Pine Torani to an Original / "non"flavored Ghost energy, and it's GOOD, but also is the closest I think I will ever get to knowing how Shadowmurk's most potable water supply actually looks (theirs doesn't taste this good). #food #drink

FIVE YEARS AFTER FIRE

This is what it looks like to study giant sequoia natural regeneration following high-intensity fire. Mile after mile, our team of scientists push the limits to gain valuable insights about post-fire habitat. There's an entire forest growing beneath the chaparral.

Tamarins are tiny forest gardeners. As they travel through the trees, many eat fruit & disperse its seeds across the forest, helping new plants grow far from their parent trees.

Sacred groves are better at growing future forests in the Western Ghats
In the villages of the Western Ghats, some of the oldest and tallest trees do not grow inside a national park. They grow in sacred groves, small patches of old, mostly untouched forest that local communities have protected for generations, because they believe the trees belong to their deities and ancestors. A new study published in the journal PLOS One found that young trees regenerate far more successfully in these groves. Seeds dropped by fruit-eating birds are much likelier to survive and grow there than in surrounding farms and villages. India has more than 100,000 sacred groves, which are recognised as essential to community-based conservation. The Western Ghats is a mountain range that runs about 1,600 kilometres down India’s west coast, across six states. The study began there by chance. A team from the Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF), which runs a giant-tree programme, had signed up a man in Vanzole village with a huge Terminalia bellirica (beheda) tree in his yard. Visiting, they saw giant trees all over the village. “It sparked a series of questions,” study co-author Kevin Matteson, associate director of Project Dragonfly at Miami University in the U.S. state of Ohio, told Mongabay in an email...

We of course have this one too, just across the river at Kingsmere. Cobbled together by a somewhat strange, introverted Prime Minister, as an object of private contemplation and spiritual regeneration.

We really *are* different, aren't we?

Thank you so much Dawn. I am a great believer in the regeneration of the forest and plants. That extends to my garden. The seeds from my sunflowers will feed the birds. Warm and kind thanks xx.

If recent rates of large, high-severity fires continue, half of modern dry-conifer #forests will remain by 2055 in the Jemez Mountains. Restoring widespread low-severity fire, a [...] stabilizing process, can increase resilience in these ecosystems.

State Parks proposes archery-only deer hunting pilot at Knox Farm to restore forest regeneration
New York State Parks staff proposed opening about 200 acres of Knox Farm State Park to archery‑only hunting beginning no earlier than Oct. 1, 2026, to reduce deer overbrowsing and promote forest regeneration; staff said the plan will undergo SEQR review and be monitored over multiple years.
