They are such a cutie!!! Purse sized fluffy assistant / emotional regulator 🫶💕 LMAO @ then banning Vox for being cringe, canon.
The way Velvette is wheezing in the final shot is sending me, sometimes I see little things in your art that remind me of the Francobelgian comics I grew up with.

every lucky luke readaptation gets handed over to some french comedian who seems to think the material is beneath them, instead of introducing what's still charming about it at its core to new audiences, they subvert it to little applause from francobelgian audiences, and utter befuddlement elsewhere

Time to look up the the Belgian anthem and remember that francobelgian comics also include heroes who beat the shit out of corrupt officials. Or try to outwit them and take them down (Hello Blake & Mortimer, and Tintin)

It is funny!
Though in this case I suspect Tom or Miguel likely took the name from Enki Bilal, a comic book artist from Europe who used to be rather big years ago in the francobelgian scifi comics scene.

I still want to know how Oda came up with his name.
Yes, I know what he's named after, but there are no other FrancoBelgian comics references in One Piece that I remember at the moment, so how did he end up naming this specific character after the cowboy

Reading Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball when they were first published in Germany. I was 13 at the time and just absolutely blown away. I'd read francobelgian comics, but none of those ever made me want to draw myself. Manga did.
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

Ha ha, it does!
Luckily I grew up on mostly francobelgian, and when I got a glimpse of superheroes in the 90s, I could limit myself to enjoying the art and ignoring the silly plots and characters.

I haven't read much but it's got that mid century francobelgian vibe that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside

Powers (and Tim Sale/Jeff Loeb) made me fall in love with US comics. I was an avid francobelgian comic reader but you opened a new comic dimension for me. Me at that time: working in TV, raising 2 children and reading comics as main hobby.

oh im aware of all the lines of influence — a really interesting study could be made of the ways that so many traditional UK, Francobelgian, Italian and Spanish formats originated in the attempt to reproduce US Sunday strips at magazine sizes

Comics or BD. I don't think manga is a useful word to use in English if its not describing work made in Japan, just like I wouldn't call a BD style comic made outside of the Francobelgian comics world OEL BD.

I used to draw crappy pictures as a teenager.
Never learned it right. Workslavery and my breadless fashion designing put an end to it.
20 years later after mental breakdown in retaiI, I decided to become a (francobelgian) comicbookartist.
1 year later I am hoping for a place at the art univercity.
