FWLE ridership data for December is now published. Federal Way Downtown had 12k daily boardings, on par with Northgate and Roosevelt. Kent Des Moines and Star Lake are now the two lowest ridership stations on the 1 Line with 2.8k and 2.6k daily boardings respectively.

Also, the system map at Westlake does not have the FWLE. It almost feels minor as it is only 39 days out of date, but it certainly makes the “Federal Way Downtown” platform signs even more confusing for new Link riders.

A new addition to incorrect signs: 1 Line shuttle buses are signed “Lynnwood” and “Angle Lake”. Did ST/Metro forget about the FWLE opening or did they want to avoid confusion with bus routes that go to Federal Way (577,578)?

It’s been slipping last minute like they always tend to do besides FWLE, but pre-revenue has started so we’ll get an opening date soon and it will be pretty close to the end of Q3

FWLE opened 3 months early. LLE opened underbudget. DTRLE opened underbudget AND ahead of schedule.
But when literally one project encounters troubles entirely outside of Sound Transit’s control, you all flip out.

That would be similar to FWLE. ST2 planned to build to Star Lake, but was cut back to Angle Lake due to lower income from the 2008 recession. ST3 provided more funding for FWLE so it could complete the ST2 alignment and go a bit further to FW Downtown.

People had similar thoughts about FWLE, it seems sort of likely May is latest possible and they intend on it around March-April

Federal Way Link Extension pre-revenue testing will begin on September 24th! That means you’ll see 4-car trains running every 8-15 minutes on the extension, and passengers will be kicked off at Angle Lake!

The very first time I rode the train south through the airport on my way to Federal Way, three days after FWLE Opening Day, I encountered tourists who got on the southbound train and asked "this goes to Seattle, right?"

Snippet of a 2015 Federal Way Link Extension alignment diagram that matches closest to the one that was built shows Star Lake Station being built in a, trench? And diving into a tunnel under the HOV ramp roundabout? I wonder why they drew up this roller coaster when it ended up being fine elevated.
