The main problem I have with the sequels is the kids.

Kids should not be Ghostbusters.

They don't have to be men, but they should be middle-aged, weirdo loser degenerates.

GHOSBUSTERS 2016 got this right but nobody wants to talk about that.

The Real Ghosbusters Gooper Ghosts! 3 Big, bad barfing baddies! Geared towards Ecto-Plazm play (each came with a tub) they still had great play value without it. Later Slimer (sorry “Green Ghost”) was added to the roster. Bad using stickers, given the messy gimmick & need to wash #vintagetoytuesday
The three 1st series evil Gooper Ghosts - Sludge-Bucket (podgy yellow ghost with huge tongue), Banshee Bomber (red dragon/goldfish hybrid) and Squisher (toothy big-mouthed orange ghoul with Kenneth William’s nose). As noted they all use stickers for their eyes, a baffling choice given their play pattern (plazm could stain them and though splash proof water still could soak them off) and that all other GB ghosts have painted eyes The Goopers show off their sliming features- Sludge-Bucket’s tongue, Banshee Bomber’s bombing mouth and Squisher’s squishy drooling mouth. Even with no goo the features were fun Slimer joins the gang! He’s quite a bit smaller the others though still big for a GB ghost & his proton pack makes up the volume. Slimer has painted eyes (yay) though his proton pack is covered in stickers even more susceptible to water damage than the first 3 Goopers grab Ghostbusters! Their large size makes them formidable opponents for the guys, even the smaller Slimer is huge!

Kicking off my Ghostbusters month in style with The Real Ghosbusters Fire Station Headquarters! (or Fire House for all you not British-types). A lil sparsely furnished & not quite long enough though still a lot of fun. Slide down the pole! Goop through the goop grate! Smash Ecto-1 through the doors!
The Real Ghosbusters Fire Station Headquarters - though it’s only about half as long as it should be it is still very recognisable as Hook & Ladder 8. The outside is oddly dilapidated (also a lil discoloured as this is my well-loved childhood one) with cracks & visible brickwork under plaster. Not sure why Kenner did that as neither the real building nor the cartoon were like that but it does look cool. And regarding the surroundings, just pretend that it’s an episode where New York gets overgrown with spooky plants (A Ghost Grows in Brooklyn, It’s a Jungle Out There etc) Ecto-1 comes crashing through the doors! This was endlessly fun to do as a child whilst making Ecto-siren noises The interior of the Fire House is a bit sparse with most of the decoration provided by stickers (personally I would have used the tooling budget for the white railings on chairs or a desk for Janine). The main action feature is the pole, which has a sort of platform on it that spins the guys down. The platform can be made to stop at each floor (weird). In practice it would often fling figures off as it went but it was fun. Ray is standing under the “goop grate” a skylight that allowed you to slime figures with Ecto-plazm. The Fire House also came with a containment unit which is a fairly decent match for the animated one (if a bit small). It allows you to dump smaller ghosts into which was very satisfying. There’s not really anywhere to put it though, it doesn’t fit on the top floors and the garage area is needed for Ecto-1, so here I have improvised as basement for it (thanks garden stairs)
