I saw what I thought was a wasp today but upon closer inspection it was a Grapeleaf skeletonizer. That's the real name. It's a moth! So fucking cool. I'd never seen one before.

Was looking at a grapevine today. And was like wow, lotta eggs or frass or something. Some clear bite marks. Turned over a leaf and there were like a dozen yellow caterpillars. Guess what they’re called? “Grapeleaf Skeletonizer”. I mean come on.

I'll say a western grapeleaf skeletonizer is a good fit, a bit more chitinous than most moffs while having those angled wings to match your!

Grapeleaf skeletonizer (Harrisina americana).
It was such a wonderful blue! It was the first and only one I have ever seen. We, nor any of the adjacent neighbors, grew grapes. No idea where it came from or where it was going. Its antennae were spectacular!
