Got to see this Thomsonesque house in Dalmuir first hand eventually the other day, completed after his death by his partner - the same house type can also be found in Thomsonesque developments in Dullatur and Lenzie 🤓 #GreekThomson

The halls were gutted by fire in 1962, and only this facade, which has since been incorporated into the Mitchell Library complex, now remains.

They were built in 1876, a year after the death of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, by his former business partner Robert Turnbull, which explains their strong Thomsonesque design.

Andrew eventually became a brickmaker and builder himself, and built Titwood Place (La Gelatessa, Titwood Bar, New Anand), another #GreekThomson design, after his brother John died. He later built Salisbury Quadrant (architect Robert Turnbull, Thomson’s partner) but died just as it was completed.
