I’m currently employed in manufacturing. Tool and diemaker simply do not have the capacity to actually make the amount of tooling that would be necessary to reshore even like 5% of currently overseas manufacturing. We’re already at like 16 week lead times.
these people actually think like 6 months from now companies like nike are just gonna have manufacturing plants fully staffed, operational and churning out the same product at the same price and we’re just going to go back to normal, i feel like im losing my mind

I am officially hanging out my shingle for book layout and design work outside of my immediate if-you-know-you-know circle.

I love my independent content producers hanging out their shingle on Patreon or Nebula or whatever, but it is kinda funny to me when they pitch the paid service as access to higher quality content, when the bonus content is near universally more poorly edited or written

I've done the visiting artist thing a few times, but the thing that's held me back from hanging out my own shingle is that I kinda feel like I have relearn how to be a playwright with every script. I feel like I'd burn through the shit that works every time very fast, because there isn't much of it.

The security of NFTs is just garbage, I spent a fair bit of time learning to write "smart contracts" on the Ethereum blockchain, with an interest in hanging out my shingle as someone who could write them that actually HAS a security background... but I cannot in good conscience write them at all.
