I’m finishing up a path tracer for material previewing in #illugen, raymarching based with per-pixel displacement, depth of field, volumetric fog, and optional HDRI lighting. Even though it’s still slower than polygonal rendering, there’s something extremely satisfying about it.

Another gotcha. At least when I'm messing with these effects, I'm relying on the HDRI a lot. Make sure to increase the Light Probe resolution, or you're going to get pretty chunky reproduction of that background image.
