I have been thinking about how there should be another term (like “himpathy”), which conveys the phenomenon of not wanting to be crude even in talking about the most base of violations.
For example, the word “incest” is a more palatable term than “rape by a family member”.

This is a tough read.

So I'm talking quite broadly in response to discourse about abuse that seems to be fucking everywhere atm. The specifics of any one case are less important to me than the fact that I keep seeing the same old bullshit himpathy cropping up.

Seeing the whole question as "if it is possible to outline a group of male people who pose no more threat of violence to women than other women do, then that group of male people is entitled to resources ringfenced for women" is a symptom of the kind of himpathy that props up male privilege
