Built in 1908 from local stone, this gatehouse was designed to celebrate the wedding anniversary of Albert and Eliza Smiley, founders of the nearby Mohonk Mountain House. It served as the formal entrance and toll house for horse-drawn carriages visiting the mountain resort until 1935.
