Conservatives: Humanties suck and are leftist propaganda and recruitinggrounds.

Also Conservatives: How dare anyone interpret the classics through any lens other than capitalism and/or toxic masculinity.

Sure, what could go wrong, not like we're living in an era of unethical psycho techbros who could have done with a few humanties courses..

I'm starting to see jobs out there for 'humanties experts' to train AI systems. I know we all need work, but don't do it.

once the humanties and STEM people unite, we can then finally take down our common enemy – the businessman
every tech company needs 1 queer person with a humanities education to tell the engineers how the world works

And the haters say the humanties are useless

The humanties' acquiescence to the idea that our main purpose is to teach ~skills~ is coming back to bite us. No doubt true at both the secondary and post-secondary levels.

Arts and Humanties matter. I think @levostregc.bsky.social would particularly appreciate this.
Great culture can save lives. Literally.

Amazing letter in today’s @thetimes.com about Tom Stoppard

This year's Digital Humanties interns have helped to make our Special Collections much more accessible - a big thank you! 🙏
This Year's DH interns worked on an incredible variety of projects and materials. This included glass negatives, VHS tapes, theatre playbills, the Valor Ecclesiasticus, audiobook production, GIS aerial mapping, postcards, items from @bdcmuseum.bsky.social, and posters from the DAME project.

like if I am honest, though i think you are right about stem field and engaging with humanties. I know more stem people willing to engage with humanties than I do humanties who want to engage with stem because as someone who comes from a intersectional field; for some the intrest is only one way/1

I think you can find that class in their Oh, the Humanties section.

i can't even begin to get into how stupid of a post i saw that made me make this one, it's not worth breaking down. it's just more pointless tech vs. humanties bickering that gets us nowhere and obscures the actual fight: money vs. every living thing including the planet we all live on. stay focused

I’m such a Humanties person; it’s shocking to see so many of my interests becoffined
Why would we want to learn from our pasts, or ponder the power of the written and spoken word, or explore the deep questions of humanity? According to the University of Hertfordshire, we wouldn't. They've just cut all of our undergrad Humanities programmes

its not problematic to dungeon dive with an orc and elf. you are too humanties brained if you think slaying a dragon is bad.
Sorry but you are way too humanities brained if you think space colonization is problematic because earth colonization was often accompanied by bad stuff. There are no people on the moon. The bad things involving colonization were the things they did to people living there. There are no people there

This exercise strikes me as one of ”depends who/where you ask“ in regards to the output. So these are law students. Running this poll on an Arts and Humanties faculty, for instance, would likely produce VERY different results. 🙃

"BuT the HumanTies DoN't MakE AnY MoNey!11!"
Huge congrats to Dr. Wilson on producing a significant scholarly work with popular cross-over appeal while thrusting a red-hot poker into the one-eyed idiocy of anti-educational boors.
(P.S. My books are still available for optioning as movies or series.)

“West Philly's Emily Wilson, who penned a highly acclaimed translation of the epic poem in 2017, is having a big summer.”

I learned from him to always read something that I enjoyed.

Computer science.

Not humanties.

Til this day I have not finished reading Wuthering Heights.

Teachers are something magical.

Today I received official news that, yes, I now have an M. Phil in Digital Humanties. Going to poke it for a bit and see if it does anything exciting.

Still can't believe my highest mark was in the impenetrable class that I signed up for unaware it was a part of the masters in Data Anayltic in CS.
