Fun fact: becoming illithid is her biggest “fuck you” to Vlaakith. She was meant to be the first of a long line of soldiers. Instead, she becomes an illithid, and is the first to start the war against her reign.
Being githyanki herself, the Gith have had a huge impact on Adlishar’s life. She was raised to eventually be shu’kyani, an egg-bearer so she could begin a bloodline of githyanki with a red dragon’s power. That is why she was named Adlishar, “first among many”.

When an Illithid dies it's brain is placed into the elder brain's brine pool and is absorbed by the brain. This gives provides the psionic energy the brain requires.
It sends an impression of itself along with psionic energy to it's body in the Far Realm. This "wakes" the body up.
