Mamdani and Raman obviously excepted. But a lot of their imitators at other levels...

Greatest American Hero, right there. May he inspire an army of imitators!

Had some trepidation about this as it felt like the kind of thing that would really benefit from being a cynical 19 year old but having only seen US imitators I underestimated how delightfully over the top Hard Boiled would be

this is part of why I don't love the cheap novelty digital camera trend. the kodak charmera is cute and fun, all its imitators are basically producing e-waste. it's never been a better time to get a cheap mirrorless interchangeable lens camera in FF, APS-C, or M43

Here is my trusty Halloween flashlight for trick or treating. Not sure of the brand but it is from the early 2000s. There are many imitators but few real Fright Lights with 8 spooky Halloween sound effects.

Good piece, although personally I regret not being more obstinate about React and its imitators :)

BEWARE SPURIOUS IMITATORS, there's only two actual real proper Python conferences in the Bay Area, and the belowmentioned is not one of them
PSA: The PSF has become aware of a website advertising a "PyConf2026" event in San Francisco. This event appears to be a fake, and we advise community members to use caution.

We're also following steps as recommended by our trademark lawyer, and we have filed a report with the ticket platform.

The Winter Palace, although opulent, has the benefit of age and history to tone down that opulence unlike it's parvenu imitators.

How is a human supposed to express creativity when words and art just get vacuumed up by the ever-looming robot imitators

The original is still a cut above the sequels and imitators that followed in its wake.

While this might seem like an overreaction, media and institutions in Japan are quite careful about misuse of the red cross symbol. Shiina Ringo's famous nurse outfit didn't feature one, though imitators don't always remember that.

Seeing the more recent wave of kingsfield imitators is really cool tbh, I'm glad it seems like most devs have decided one of the most important parts is the surreal weirdness fromsoft always has, always make them real flavorful in comparison to things like elder scrolls inspired games

I genuinely think Citizen Smith did a lot of damage to decent political satire of the left. Not because it wasn't funny (it was and is genuinely brilliant) but because its lesser imitators never got that Wolfie being likeable was integral to its humour.

Anthropic added two sentences to Claude Code: don’t recreate a specific existing game, even renamed. But the capability lives in the model class, not one vendor’s prompt. Open-weight models don’t share the rule, and legit devs get caught in it. A dam at the wrong scale. #AI #GameDev #Copyright

It is an EXTREMELY explorable game. I'm currently in the late-game big scavenger hunt/secret-scouring phase. But it's also the most retro King's Field yet. All the other imitators - Lunacid, Verho, etc - feel much more fast and modern.

I cackled in glee. I want to share this with my friend who is really into King's Field and its imitators, but I also know she would get hit by the spoiler.

Good to know she won't be disappointed when she finally gets the game, though.

8 - HALLOWEEN (1978)

"Ignore the dozens and dozens of drab imitators...was one of the last films to make crowds scream in utter terror*...and Carpenter's score feels like it's rearranging your molecular structure..."

As we’re closing in on GTA 6’s launch, I wrote about the GTA clones over the years that may not have troubled Rockstar’s position but still stood out in their own ways. Also just an excuse for me to write about Sleeping Dogs www.gamespot.com/articles/wha...

Mussolini also played up his ridiculous aesthetics and gestures, which seemed to entertain the public even more and create imitators.
