Primary schools are doing this. Makes me feel sick. To remove individualised insight into a pupil’s progress and skills at such a formative age is lunacy.
Vital words on why educators should push back against using plagiarism-slop machines for grading: "grading written responses is messy by design. It’s also one of the most human activities we can do within teaching." 1/2
I strongly urge everyone to not just read this warning from @marcwatkins.bsky.social, but heed it, and be vocal and forceful pushing back against using AI to grade student writing. This must be anathema if we're going to have a world where learning means something. substack.com/inbox/post/1...

individualised solutions to systemic problems?

The season where blinkered online yanks act smug and bleat misunderstandings about the economy of air conditioning and the intensity of humid heat in Northern Europe starts earlier every year

unpopular opinion: The Borg Queen was a terrible idea because the Borg were a genuinely incredible, unique villain that were absolutely ruined when writers just had to create a individualised cult of personality Leader character from within the perfect antithesis to any of it and ruin the concept

Folks who are now analysing their letters in closer detail are reporting that the individualised investigation statements about their care are filled with inaccuracies and outright mistakes.

Not surprising when a healthcare investigation happens without ever once speaking to those involved.

this or.

the concept of consent being individualised is alienating, under communism consent will not be individualised. yk :)

Benefits need to be individualised. Like taxation!

Why is it dangerous to not have national and global recommendations for health measures and metrics?

Surely it’s fine to just let things be a consult between doctor and patient. Individualised care?

My friends.

Without recommendations that consult doesn’t even get booked.

But come on.

Even in the GDR it was possible to carry out individualised care.

Today’s hospitals have to meet minimum quota of surgeries. Medically necessary or not.

So much better.

People pouring their hearts out to AI bots is kind of the understandable end-stage of ‘don’t traumadump to your friends/go to therapy (therapy is fucking expensive)/you don’t owe anyone anything’ hyper-individualised, atomised culture we’ve ended up in, imo. People!! Are Lonely!!!!
we are in such unbelievably deep shit. www.reddit.com/r/MyBoyfrien...

We can all already experience hyperspecific individualised stories only we engage with.
There’s even a name for it: It’s called our imagination.
No one wants this. People do not want hyperspecific individualized stories only they engage with. People want the shared experience of being told a story by a human and engaging with other people who also experienced that story. People want the social aspect of storytelling.
Jesus Christ, this is more dystopic than anything Philip K Dick ever wrote but it’s what the Russo Brothers want for your AI Slop future

i'm vaguely perturbed by it but more interested than bothered

the death of individualised sites had already nailed the coffin shut on the Dream of the internet, so i observe this as merely an advanced stage of rot

i believe we'll make a new, better place. these are death throes

I like how this makes it sound like it's going to be an individualised listing of names.

Racism becomes individualised and extreme and strongly denounced by those then claiming to not be racist

Meanwhile, "polite" racism gets mainstreamed as "legitimate concerns" held by "the people" to which the elite has no choice but address

Phillipson's argument seems to be that a lot of this shouldn't require specialist plans – it should be built into general education. I agree. But whilst you build up that accessibility (which takes time) it's unconscionable to leave disabled kids who need it without individualised support.

*they cannot lawfully include trans people* according to presenting gender.

Trans inclusive single-sex services are no longer lawful. Even if a provider wants to be.

Trans exclusion is no longer optional; it’s mandatory.

No nuance, no *individualised decisions*, @elliechowns.bsky.social

Individualised bullshit for children as a service
Well this is grim

It is telling how some people perceive 'racist' exclusively as an individualised slur and not as an accurate description of ideas of racial difference with a well-established historical pedigree...🤷🏼‍♂️
How about refuting them on theoretical and empirical grounds? That is kind of how science works. It doesn’t work by calling people names, refusing to engage with their claims and attempting to get them fired.

Some of the outstanding bits arrived so the second Warrior is now assembled alongside his unit prime. Whilst each is individualised do they look cohesive enough to be the same unit?

lesbianism is very beautiful and multifaceted and individualised and nuanced. equally so is lesbian relationships to femininity and masculinity, and gender expression and nonconformity, and gender identity as a whole. I love it when people explore their lesbian character's relationship to lesbianism

Ew: "Biopsychosocial & complexity assessment should lead to a holistic, individualised formulation for each patient. This formulation should include an understanding of how gender dysphoria has arisen; complexity assessment should not simply be confined to the identification of additional conditions

Whereas when, on rare occasion, a Dem saying Good Things breaks through, it's individualised.

That individualisation is at the core of vibe-based politics, which is more personality-driven. The good that Mamdani or AOC say or do isn't credited to the whole party, just their unique rizz.

“As several UN independent experts have noted, binary definitions of sex reinforce harmful stereotypes and erode progress toward substantive gender equality. Any testing of athletes needs to be individualised and evidence-based, not arbitrary or degrading.”
